Too Late to Hold Me Back novel Chapter 1145

The surrounding crowd fell silent.

Owen was about to take Mira up to check on the old man's room when Leonard suddenly looked up. "Give me another bag."

Chuckling helplessly, Owen handed him a fresh pack.

As they walked, Owen turned to Mira. "How do you think he's doing?"

"Incredibly well.

He's forgotten almost all the people and events from his past, but he hasn't lost his basic motor or cognitive skills."

He could still take care of himself, play chess, play cards, and read. Those fundamental skills remained intact. Conveniently, the only things he had forgotten were the toxic people and painful memories that used to cause him agony.

"Plus, he's in great spirits, and all his physical health markers are excellent."

A while ago, Mira had formulated a specific medication to completely sever the traumatic portions of his memory. Now, he no longer needed to take any hallucinogens to stay calm.

Chatting comfortably, they arrived at the door to Leonard's suite.

Opening the cream-colored door revealed a small, welcoming living room. It was spacious, bright, and designed with a minimalist yet luxurious aesthetic.

A display cabinet held an array of his favorite items. His hobbies hadn't changed; he still loved collecting intricate figurines.

The bed was outfitted in top-tier organic linens, soft and breathable to guarantee a perfect night's sleep.

The en-suite bathroom featured a jacuzzi, a rainfall shower, high-end organic bath products, a smart temperature control system, and high-speed Wi-Fi.

Since the old man rarely used the internet, the network didn't get much use.

Every aspect of his routine, from bathing to his meals, was managed by dedicated, highly-trained care assistants.

The small living area was equipped with Bose speakers, a curated selection of books, custom aromatherapy diffusers, and fresh flowers replaced daily. Every detail reflected meticulous, unparalleled care.

Pushing open the windows offered a sweeping view of lush greenery, manicured gardens, and the sparkling lake.

"This place is way more comfortable than home," Mira remarked as she looked around.

She continued admiring the space.

Owen smiled. "Are you thinking about moving in here again? Want me to start that massage right now?"

As he spoke, he playfully pinned Mira against the soft cushions of the sofa...

"Do you have a son?"

"How would I have a grandson without a son? Idiots."

The old man stared at them like they were completely brain-dead.

"How old is your grandson?"

"Five."

Hearing that, tears instantly welled up in Owen's eyes. It was the very first time Mira had ever seen him cry.

"Owen, are you thinking about when you were little?"

Mira wrapped her arms around him, burying her face against his chest to offer him comfort.

"Don't be sad. It's all in the past now. We're powerful enough that no one can ever hurt us again."

After soothing him, Mira turned back to the old man. "What's your son's name?"
