The international tycoon was a man of many hidden talents.
James's flawless performance left Jason frozen on the other end of the line, torn between seething rage and immense relief.
He was furious that he had bled millions while James remained entirely unscathed.
Yet, he was elated that James hadn't broken rank. The man clearly still trusted him implicitly.
Having James's immense capital backing their next play would significantly boost their firepower.
"I appreciate the loyalty. Honestly, the play didn't yield the results we wanted.
Wrap up your mess down there. We're launching another strike on Siam in a week."
Jason replied smoothly.
"Understood. I'll make sure I'm back within the week."
James disconnected the call, a smug grin spreading across his face as he lounged in his penthouse suite at The Larsen Grand.
During dinner that evening, Jude Vance sought Mira out. "I owe you everything for this one. I pulled in two billion dollars."
He slid a sleek black card across the table. "There's a hundred million dollars on this. A token of my appreciation."
Mira accepted the card without hesitation. It was the law of the market; she had earned every cent of her commission.
Jude then leaned in, lowering his voice. "Vivienne Voss had to be carried out on a stretcher this afternoon. Word is, she's still completely unresponsive."
Good, Mira thought ruthlessly. Vivienne was a toxic schemer who thrived on destroying others. The longer she stayed unconscious before they left the Javenaire Federation, the better.
"When are you making your next move?"
"What makes you think we're going back in?"
Owen asked Jude, arching an eyebrow.
"Given your track record, if you were done, you'd be packing for a flight home tonight.
But you haven't made a single move to leave..."
"Maybe we just want to play tourists for a few days,"
"Deal. But fifty percent is excessive. Standard ten percent of your net profit will do."
When dealing in billions, Mira preferred to stay grounded. Ten percent was the industry standard for shepherding an investor through a volatile market.
"Thank you!"
"Just be warned—the risk is astronomical this time around, and the success rate is marginal. We're only allocating twenty percent of our portfolio. Play your own hand carefully."
"I appreciate the heads-up. The market is a meat grinder; I know better than to push all my chips to the center."
With that, Jude gave a quick nod and left. Lingering near Mira's camp for too long would only draw unwanted attention.
Once they were safely back in their suite, Owen turned to Mira. "You're planning to recruit him, aren't you?"
By now, the two operated on the exact same wavelength, able to read each other's unspoken intentions flawlessly.
"Solflare National Bank is already in the registration phase. I want to take it global.
To do that, we need veterans who live and breathe international finance."
