Too Late to Hold Me Back novel Chapter 1098

While operating domestically was one thing, Mira's team severely lacked the experience required to launch an international bank. Securing James as a partner by offering him massive equity was an absolute necessity.

It was the only way to ensure James would fully commit and pour all his expertise into building a global financial institution.

However, Mira and her mentor needed to retain at least a sixty percent stake—fifty-one percent at the absolute minimum—to maintain absolute control.

In other words, it had to remain a Mavarian-owned bank.

And Mira was determined to see Solflare National Bank establish branches across the globe.

After Mira's explanation, James quickly caught on. "The Siamese government is going to intervene?"

"I get it now. Even if their economy is lagging, mobilizing the entire nation's resources will still create a massive impact."

"Deploy half of our total funds. Go long, fifty times leverage."

Mira issued her next command.

This time, James executed the order without a moment's hesitation.

He then flashed Mira a grin. "Are you trying to give the Siamese government a helping hand?"

"No. Just like last time, we're only here to make money."

Mira had zero ties to the Siamese government. Why would she go out of her way to help them?

In the previous wave, they had ridden the syndicates' coattails to profit off the Siamese government. This time, they were flipping the script and bleeding the syndicates dry.

"Exactly. We're just traders here to make a buck."

James gave her a thumbs-up.

The reason Mira insisted on holding half their funds in reserve was the looming threat of the international syndicates deploying their main capital, which could trigger another plunge and margin calls.

By keeping a massive reserve on hand, they could instantly shore up their positions if they ever teetered on the edge of liquidation.

Backed by Mira's colossal injection of capital, the Baht skyrocketed.

Inside another exchange situated in a towering skyscraper...

"Fuck! What kind of degenerate is trading directly against us?"

Dropping her trading duties, Mira rushed over to help Lucian reinforce their firewall.

James barked an order to the side. "Help them out!"

One of his assistants immediately jumped in.

The assistant in question happened to be exceptionally skilled in IT.

As the head of an international syndicate handling astronomical trades, the men James brought with him were undoubtedly the elite of the elite.

"That was entirely too close. In a fraction of a second, they nearly bypassed half our defenses."

Mira muttered.

"Their hackers are seriously good."

Eyes glued to his monitor, Lucian gritted out as his fingers flew across the keyboard, "Fuck, they're coming at us again. Good thing you reacted fast, or our accounts would have been wiped out."

James drew a sharp breath. "Every syndicate employs terrifying talent. If they breached us, I'd be the one taking the hardest hit, not you."
