Owen was only half-joking.
"Don't worry, the ruthlessness is hardwired into my DNA. I couldn't change it even if I tried. Just thought I'd lighten the mood."
After exchanging a few more pleasantries, Owen and Mira prepared to leave.
It was time for Felix to head home, as well. He was now a multi-millionaire, a true heavyweight in his own right.
He lived in a sprawling mansion, drove a fleet of luxury cars, and traveled with a personal security detail.
As the esteemed CEO of the Solflare Group, he commanded awe and respect wherever he went.
Yet, before joining Solflare, he had been nothing more than an ambitious executive trapped in a stagnating mid-sized firm.
Recognizing the explosive potential of Solflare Entertainment, he had aggressively jumped ship.
When the bike-sharing venture launched, he practically demanded a transfer to the frontlines of the startup.
He had personally spearheaded the expansion into Aethelgard, conquering the market piece by piece.
As the conglomerate swelled and their operations diversified, Owen had transitioned from micromanaging the bike company to overseeing the entire Group.
Recognizing Felix's ruthless efficiency and relentless drive, Mira and Owen had handpicked him to take over as the General Manager of the bike division.
With his trademark blend of audacity and meticulous execution, he had optimized their nationwide operations into a flawless machine.
But when Owen was inevitably pulled away to handle the Lance Group's internal wars, and Mira was drowning under the grueling demands of her academics, acting as a dual-CEO became entirely unsustainable.
Given the conglomerate's massive volume of operations, the executive suite couldn't be left unmanned for even a second.
After a brief discussion, they promoted Felix to Vice President, with Mira retaining the ultimate authority.
Just before they embarked on their Wall Street conquest last year, they had officially crowned him CEO of the Solflare Group.
...
Once settled in the car, Mira turned to Owen. "Judging by that smug look on your face, you pulled off something massive today. Out with it."
"Nothing massive, really. I just formally severed all ties with that miserable family."
"The paperwork is finalized?"
"Signed and sealed."
"Good. So, when do we crush Lawrence?"
Mira's mind instantly flashed to Eleanor. "Maybe you shouldn't come over. Let's just meet at the Solflare Grand Hotel.
We haven't eaten yet anyway, so we can grab dinner and chat there.
Sebastian? Are you still there? If you don't have any objections, we'll do that."
On the other end of the line, Sebastian let out a heavy sigh.
To be completely honest, his primary goal was to see the old lady. There were certain matters where only Eleanor possessed the authority to keep Owen and Mira in check.
But his niece was clearly throwing up a massive blockade, outright refusing him access.
Ending the call, Mira tapped Jax Weaver on the shoulder. "Text Rachel. Let her know something came up and we're eating out tonight. Tell her not to wait up."
"As her biological son, how can he be so completely oblivious to the state of her health?" Owen mused darkly.
"He's blinded by lust," Mira scoffed. "Gwen dictates his every move like he's a puppet."
"I just don't get it. The man isn't stupid. How on earth did he end up head over heels for a classless, shrieking banshee like Gwen?"
Owen couldn't wrap his head around it.
