Too Late to Hold Me Back novel Chapter 1077

"Fools. Do they even know what kind of person Lawrence is? They're practically rolling out the red carpet for a predator," Owen said, his voice laced with frustration.

"Exactly. Your precious half-brother is about to sink his teeth into the Quinn Group. They're a match made in hell, so we can't really blame anyone else. If the Quinns get completely gutted from the inside out, they’ll only have themselves to blame." Mira was exhausted. She had zero desire to try and talk sense into them anymore.

"I don't even want to deal with them right now. As long as Eleanor is safe, that's all that matters."

"Lawrence won't be parading around for much longer, anyway," Owen noted. "Once that key witness returns, he's looking at life behind bars, if not worse."

"The best-case scenario is that Lawrence wreaks total havoc on the Quinn Group before he's finally arrested. Otherwise, Sebastian and his family will just curse us out for suing their precious son-in-law."

Owen scoffed. "Let them curse. They can run their mouths all they want. My only priority right now is severing all ties with them completely—assets included. The sooner we cut them off, the better."

"Why? If you do that, won't you have to hand over half the shares to them?" If those people were doomed to ruin anyway, why give them a slice of the pie?

"No. Half of the Lance Family assets belonged to my mother, and her entire estate was left to me. My grandfather personally promised that years ago, and it's legally ironclad.

Since I am the one taking care of my grandfather, his ten percent retirement equity also falls to me.

I couldn't care less about Richard's share—they can have it.

If I don't draw a hard line in the sand now, Lawrence won't just be facing criminal charges when that airplane incident gets exposed; he'll be hit with millions of dollars in damages."

Ever since that disaster, the airline's business had taken a massive hit. Public fear had kept passengers away, and the company still hadn't financially recovered.

Once the truth about that incident came to light, the Lance Family would be staring down the barrel of astronomical compensation claims. Richard and Jocelyn would undoubtedly burn through insane amounts of cash trying to buy their son's way out of prison.

The Tracker Butterfly, however, could seek out a living presence.

If given a piece of worn clothing, it could track down the target using nothing but scent.

It never hurt to have an extra skill up one's sleeve, and it seemed her mentor still had plenty of incredible techniques to share.

The next morning, Mira headed straight to the office to fulfill her duties as Board Chair. No matter how competent her subordinates were, she couldn't afford to lose her grip on the Solflare Group.

It was imperative that she handled her executive responsibilities with absolute diligence. This was a piece of advice Owen had emphasized before he stepped down from his role there.

He had helped her manage the company for a year, but he never overstepped his bounds when it came to tasks that belonged solely to the boss.
