Too Late to Hold Me Back novel Chapter 1026

By now, the soldiers behind Mira had their rifles raised and locked on target.

"I'm warning you, don't even think about pulling the trigger. This entire room is wired with C4 in every direction."

'Mishka' mocked.

York and his men froze, a chill running down their spines. Were they really going to die here today?

But even if they went out in a blaze of glory, they were taking these pieces of trash down with them! They gritted their teeth, ready for the end.

"I originally designed all sorts of fun, torturous games for you. But sadly, you're just too capable. Every day I drag this out, I lose more of my men.

Ah, what a pity.

Honestly, letting you die in such an opulent tomb is a mercy.

No need to thank me."

'Mishka' shook her head in faux sorrow.

"There's just one thing I don't get. If you detonate this place, won't you blow yourselves to pieces too?"

Mira asked, deliberately stalling for time.

"You don't need to worry your pretty little head about that, Boss Mercer."

Mishka waved the detonator in her hand tauntingly.

"This is the only trigger. And don't worry, we won't press it until we're safely out of the blast radius.

Farewell. I'd say see you never, but honestly, it really is a shame. Sigh."

She sighed dramatically, not because she'd miss them, but because she was genuinely disappointed she couldn't torture Mira with her own hands.

With that, the 'Mishka' trio stood up, turned gracefully, and began walking toward the secret escape tunnel behind them.

"Run!"

York bellowed.

"Don't waste your energy. The heavy blast doors you walked through automatically locked the second you stepped inside."

York signaled for his men to charge the women, but Mira immediately threw her arm out to stop him.

He looked at Mira and her inner circle. Seeing their entirely unfazed expressions, his panic instantly vanished.

Right. These people were absolute masterminds. They definitely had a play.

Mira calmly watched the three women walk away, softly counting under her breath. "One, two, three..."

Just as 'Mishka' turned back with a wicked grin, ready to press the detonator—thud! All three women collapsed to the floor simultaneously.

"Lieutenant Vance has finally grown up!"

Master Ellis shot York an approving thumbs-up.

York opened his mouth to ask another question, but Master Ellis sharply cut him off. "Move! This place is a death trap!"

They could talk once they were under the open sky.

Whitlock walked over and crouched down, carefully inspecting 'Mishka's' corpse.

"This one is definitely a body double. The Mishka we dealt with in the Javenaire Federation had a mole on her chin and three piercings in each ear.

This one only has a single piercing and no extra holes."

"Which means the one we killed yesterday afternoon was the real Mishka?"

Mira confirmed.

"Exactly.

Mishka kept several body doubles around. One of them was her father's illegitimate daughter, who looked almost exactly like her. They had the same twisted personality, and they often shared the same lovers.

And they were equally venomous."
