"You got it. Watch this,"
Jax agreed smoothly. Catching the direction of the wind, he unleashed a thick cloud of the hallucinogenic mist.
Instantly, Warren threw his arms around the security guard by the door. "My son! You finally came back..."
Mira and the team stared in stunned disbelief.
"What are you waiting for? Move!"
Master Ellis hissed, snapping them out of it as they rushed toward the inn's entrance.
"Damn, that guy actually lost his son!"
Jax blurted out once they reached the third-floor hallway.
Hearing their approaching footsteps, the Iron Wolves immediately opened their respective doors.
"Boss, you're finally back. We didn't dare close our eyes all night,"
Wang Kun said as Mira and Owen stepped inside.
"Did anyone knock while we were gone?"
Mira asked, shrugging off her jacket.
"Hold that thought. Deal with the security cameras first,"
Owen reminded her.
The effects of the Phantasm Serum wouldn't last long.
Mira immediately booted up her laptop. Her fingers flew across the keyboard, and within seconds, she wiped all traces of their return from the security footage.
She also deliberately downloaded a short clip. "We've got some high-quality entertainment here. Come look at this."
Ronan and Owen leaned in, just in time to watch the absolute chaos unfolding at the front doors:
As Mira and the crew sprinted through the entrance, Warren was seen clinging to the security guard. "Son, you finally came home..."
The guard hugged Warren right back, sobbing, "My sweet daughter, you've suffered so much. Your father is useless..."
Meanwhile, the second guard furiously tried to pry them apart, glaring at his colleague. "What the hell are you doing? Why are you hugging my wife? Keep your hands to yourself!"
Right on cue, the receptionist rushed out and latched onto Warren's arm. "Daddy, you're back!"
But Warren completely ignored her, wailing at the first guard. "Son! Son, look at me! I've been searching everywhere for you!"
"Of course not. He works for Mishka,"
Owen replied.
"Enough talking. We need to sleep."
It was nearly six in the morning, and conserving their energy was paramount.
Just as they settled into bed, Owen's phone buzzed with a text from Hank: "Made it back to the hotel safe. Don't worry."
Owen fired back a quick confirmation of their own safe return, and the two of them finally drifted off to sleep.
At eight in the morning, York and Callum knocked on their door, asking them to head down for breakfast.
No matter how exhausted they were, they had to eat to keep their strength up. Staying in bed would only arouse suspicion.
When the two men stepped inside, they noticed Mira's bed was still unmade. "Did you guys make a move last night?"
York asked in a hushed tone.
Owen nodded. "We went out to scope the terrain. By the way, assume the inn owner works for them, so watch your backs.
Also, we've gained full control over the surveillance system here. If you need a blind spot, we can make it happen."
