How could she join Samuel's company?
One person couldn't sign contracts with two different employers simultaneously.
Nova bit her lip, her body trembling slightly. Forcing down the lingering pain from her D&C, she bent down and picked up the resignation letter and time-off request from the floor.
"Mr. Forrester, I want to resign. Please approve it."
Keeping her eyes cast downward, she stubbornly held the papers out to him.
She had to quit today. She had to leave!
He stared at her in silence for a long moment before finally looking away. "Do you honestly think pulling these little stunts will make me look at you differently?"
Nova stared at him in sheer disbelief.
After all her efforts, everything she did was still viewed as a manipulative tactic to get his attention.
She felt incredibly pathetic.
"I..."
"Forrester Group doesn't revolve around you, and you are not irreplaceable. Pull a stunt like this again, and you can pack your things and get out. Leave."
He showed her absolutely no mercy.
Nova's heart clenched violently. Just as tears threatened to spill over, the landline on his desk rang. It was a direct line, ringing through without any screening.
"Honey, you left your belt at my place last night. I'm bringing it over for you."
That single word—"Honey"—rooted Nova to the spot.
It was Yvette's voice.
Yvette called him "Honey"?
Such an intimate term of endearment. Nova only ever dared to call him that in her head.
