Dawn had barely broken when departure day arrived.
Alexander was up early. He didn't wake Danielle. Instead, he sat on the edge of the bed in the dim light, watching her sleep, his chest tight with love and regret.
He reached out, brushing a stray lock of hair from her face, and pressed a feather-light kiss to her forehead. "Wait for me," he whispered.
Then he turned, grabbed his bag, and slipped silently out of the bedroom and out the front door.
Gian and Kirsten were already waiting by the driveway, flanked by the fully geared security detail.
Seeing Alexander walk out, Gian stepped forward and gave him a firm pat on the shoulder.
"Watch your six out there. If anything goes sideways, you call us. We'll hold the line here in Ashford."
"Thanks." Alexander gave them both a tight nod. "I'm counting on you to watch Danielle, Niki, and the Davidson family."
"You don't even have to ask. Danielle and Niki are under our protection. Nothing is getting past us," Kirsten said fiercely.
Alexander nodded one last time. With nothing left to say, he turned and climbed into the sleek SUV.
The convoy rolled out of the estate, heading toward the airport.
As they pulled out of the neighborhood, Alexander lowered his window and looked back. Standing by the front door, wrapped in the morning mist, was Danielle. She was waving at him, looking so small and fragile against the sprawling house.
Alexander raised a hand, waving back until the villa completely disappeared from his rearview mirror. Only then did he face forward.
Watching the taillights fade into the fog, Danielle finally let the tears fall.
Gian and Kirsten stepped up beside her, offering silent comfort.
She wiped her eyes and forced a small smile. "I'm okay. Sorry to be a mess."
It washed away the exhaustion of the flight, replacing it with a razor-sharp, predatory focus.

These were two of his most trusted operatives from his early days expanding his overseas empire: Carter and Hayes.

Alexander gave a curt nod and handed his carry-on to Carter. His sharp gaze scanned the crowded terminal, evaluating the threats.
Penang was a chaotic melting pot. It was a massive hub for Harold's offshore operations and a gray zone where international syndicates collided.
One wrong move here meant a bullet to the back of the head.

The readers' comments on the novel: The Wife You Buried Is Back from Hell
Although she was one of the protagonist (and best friend of Danielle), I'm really annoyed with Kristen. What does she actually want? She wants to be completely free from Gian, whatever their business is. But when Gian doesn't care about her, she gets annoyed and overthinks. Hey, Kristen, the world doesn't revolve around you. You may follow your own feelings, but that doesn't mean you can ignore other people's feelings at all!...
It seems like this novel will end at chapter 5000. Every time one issue ends, another one pops up, and it seems like the author is just trying to drag it out. I'm starting to get tired of reading it....
I hope daniele will have no end game with alexander since whatever the reason is, he only give her too much grievencess. I hope there will be another male character with stronger present than alexander to have the end game with daniele. Hated that in the name of love or protection alexander can treat another woman better, not just once, but with this new lorie girl... Oh my blood pressure getting higher cause by the new plot :(...
