They had completely commandeered the surveillance system and stationed armed guards at every entry point to ensure a sterile perimeter.
"Boss, the suite is swept and clean. No bugs, no cameras. We've got men rotating shifts at the lobby and elevator banks twenty-four-seven. It's a fortress."
Carter pushed open the heavy door, stepping aside to let Alexander in. "Your room is the penthouse—gives you the tactical high ground to monitor the streets."
The apartment was an expansive, minimalist loft. A massive solid wood table dominated the living room, placed right against the floor-to-ceiling windows.
Spread across the table was a detailed map of Penang, plastered with red markers indicating Harold's potential safe houses.
Alexander tossed his jacket onto the leather sofa and walked straight to the map. He tapped a finger against the glass tabletop, his eyes locking onto the red circles.
"The second Harold crossed the border, he made a beeline for Penang. Based on our intel, he's holed up in the Old Port district on the outskirts of the city."
"It's a shantytown built over the old docks—a complete nightmare to navigate," Hayes said, sliding a thick dossier across the table. "It's where he built his empire years ago. The locals and merchants there are on his payroll, and they're fanatically loyal. An outsider sticks out like a sore thumb."
"Plus, the whole perimeter is boxed in by abandoned warehouses and shipping containers. It's a logistical fortress," Hayes continued, his expression grim. "He's got heavily armed patrols running the streets. Kicking the door in isn't an option."
Alexander flipped through the dossier, tracing the schematics of the Old Port. His brow furrowed slightly.
The files had meticulously mapped out the entry points, patrol routes, and suspected sniper nests. Carter and Hayes had clearly done their homework.
But the complexity of the Old Port exceeded his expectations; the shantytown was a labyrinth of alleys, forming a dense web that trapped anyone who entered.

"You got it, Mr. Davidson," the two men responded in unison. Without wasting another second, they turned and left to brief the teams.
-
The penthouse fell dead silent.
Alexander stood alone by the map, staring intensely at the Old Port.

Although she was one of the protagonist (and best friend of Danielle), I'm really annoyed with Kristen. What does she actually want? She wants to be completely free from Gian, whatever their business is. But when Gian doesn't care about her, she gets annoyed and overthinks. Hey, Kristen, the world doesn't revolve around you. You may follow your own feelings, but that doesn't mean you can ignore other people's feelings at all!...
It seems like this novel will end at chapter 5000. Every time one issue ends, another one pops up, and it seems like the author is just trying to drag it out. I'm starting to get tired of reading it....

I hope there will be another male character with stronger present than alexander to have the end game with daniele. Hated that in the name of love or protection alexander can treat another woman better, not just once, but with this new lorie girl... Oh my blood pressure getting higher cause by the new plot :(...
