The Wife He Forgot to Marry (Winona and Yule) novel Chapter 523

The next morning, Winona arrived at the research institute for a meeting.

Zack Charlton leaned over to whisper, "We have a new hire on the team. Her name's Giselle Reed. Just moved back after getting her degree abroad."

Winona masked her surprise. She hadn't expected to cross paths with Giselle so soon.

When the meeting began, Dean Ziegler officially introduced her. "This is Giselle Reed, the newest addition to our team. She holds a Master's from Monash University and has extensive experience in oncology research. She's a brilliant talent, and I expect you'll all learn a lot from collaborating with her."

Giselle stood up, offering a poised, charming smile to the room. Applause rippled across the table.

Knowing this was the same woman Sylvan hired to con Wynne, Winona's internal reaction was ice-cold. However, she was a professional. She wouldn't let personal disdain bleed into the workplace.

After the meeting, Winona stayed behind to hash out some project logistics with the Dean. By the time they wrapped up, it was nearly eleven-thirty.

"We're doing a welcome lunch for Giselle," Dean Ziegler offered. "Want to join us?"

"I'll pass, thank you," Winona declined with a polite smile. "I have some urgent prep work waiting at the lab."

Knowing her work ethic, the Dean didn't press the issue.

As Winona stepped out into the hallway, she bumped into Giselle, who was clutching a stack of files.

Giselle smiled warmly. "Ms. Jowett, your presentation in there was incredibly insightful. I'd love to pick your brain sometime. Could we exchange contacts?"

Her English was flawless, her tone perfectly friendly.

Winona gave a tight smile and pulled out her phone to swap numbers.

Once it was done, Giselle added, "I've just moved back to the States and don't really have a social circle here yet. Do you mind if I text you about things outside of work, too?"

Winona had no idea what game this woman was playing, but she kept her voice light. "Sure. Anytime."

"That's wonderful," Giselle beamed.

Winona gave a brief nod and left the building.

That evening, over dinner with Stefan, Winona's phone buzzed. It was a message from Giselle asking a highly technical research question.
