Stefan's assistant quickly dug into the lawyer's background and found the mastermind pulling Cynthia's strings: Tallulah Shipley.

"Sure," Tallulah said with a sickeningly sweet voice. "I'll text you the address. Come find me."

Winona drove straight to the restaurant, walking into the private room where Tallulah was waiting.

"You bankrolled Cynthia to terrorize my aunt. Do you really think I can't touch you, Tallulah?"

Tallulah took a leisurely sip of her juice, reveling in Winona's anger. "Your aunt is the one in the wrong here. Matteo is paralyzed. He can never have another child. Greta is his only flesh and blood, so she belongs with the Slaters. I just saw an injustice and decided to help. Why are you so angry?"

"The Slaters treated that little girl like garbage her entire life!" Winona snapped. "Now that Matteo is crippled, they want to drag a child back to be his unpaid nurse? In your dreams! Our feud is between you and me, Tallulah. Keep my aunt out of it!"

Just then, Yulen Locke pushed the door open. Seeing him, Tallulah instantly shifted into a helpless, victimized tone.

"Winona, your aunt is being so unreasonable! Her ex-husband was so good to her, but she refused to give him a son. He made a tiny mistake and cheated once, and she took everything from him in the divorce. Now that he's paralyzed, she won't even let his daughter see him? It's so cruel!"

Realizing Tallulah's ability to twist the truth had reached sociopathic levels, Winona saw red. She stepped forward and slapped Tallulah across the face with everything she had.
