The Wife He Forgot to Marry (Winona and Yule) novel Chapter 404

Seeing Sylvan set the terms, Yulen gritted his teeth. "I'll drink three glasses."

Stefan shot a subtle glance at Mr. Wallace.

Catching the hint, Wallace picked up a full bottle of strong liquor from the table and laughed. "I used to be in sales. Back in the day, if I accidentally offended a client, I'd have to down three whole bottles of liquor to make amends. Mr. Locke isn't used to that life, so he probably can't drink that much. But surely, one full bottle is fair?"

Yulen felt completely degraded. His eyes flashed with fury, and he had the sudden urge to smash his glass and storm out.

Sylvan put a firm hand on his shoulder, sighing internally.

Yulen really had no composure.

The Locke Group was a big fish in their home city, but on a national scale, they were nothing.

Sylvan forced a smile. "Mr. Goddard, how about I help Mr. Locke and drink half the bottle for him?"

Stefan raised an eyebrow. "Was it the Locke Group or the Scully Group that provoked us?"

Sylvan immediately backed down, shooting Yulen a helpless look.

Yulen knew that if he didn't drink today, this grudge would never be resolved.

Instinctively, he looked at Winona. She looked completely indifferent—no worry, no heartache for him whatsoever. His eyes darkened.

She was just going to sit there and watch him get humiliated without saying a word?

Did she forget he had stomach issues and couldn't handle heavy drinking?

Winona took a bite of rice, not giving him a single glance.

Stefan ignored Yulen completely and leaned in slightly toward Winona. "Don't like the food today?"

Winona smiled. "No, the food is great. I just don't want anything too greasy tonight."

Stefan nodded. "Alright. I'll have them bring you a yogurt in a bit."

Knowing she liked yogurt after dinner, he gestured for a waiter.

The two of them chatted casually, completely icing Yulen out again.

Yulen glared fiercely at Winona, as if trying to bore a hole through her.

Then, out of spite, he grabbed the bottle of liquor and started chugging.

The fiery liquid burned his throat and scorched his insides.

His stomach began to throb with a sharp pain.

He thought recklessly that once he finished the bottle and collapsed in pain, Winona would definitely feel sorry for him.

She fumed, convinced that Winona's true, vicious nature was finally showing.

It was a good thing Yulen had never actually married her.

On Saturday afternoon, Winona received a call from Joanna, Willow's younger sister.

"Winona, I'm coming back to the country to get married! The wedding is next Saturday evening. You absolutely have to come. My sister told me you and Yulen are having some issues and aren't living together right now. Should I send a driver to drop off your invitation?"

Unlike Willow and Yulen's sisters, Joanna was incredibly vibrant, warm, and very fond of Winona.

Whenever Willow and the others made things difficult for Winona, Joanna had always shielded her.

Once, when Winona had collapsed while doing chores at the Locke Villa, it was Joanna who rushed her to the hospital. Joanna had even taught her how to fake being sick to avoid Willow's ridiculous demands.

After marrying her second husband, Joanna had moved abroad.

Now, she was divorced again and returning home for her third wedding. Winona wasn't surprised in the slightest.

Since Joanna invited her, Winona was definitely going.

The only downside was that she would inevitably run into the Locke family.
