The Wife He Forgot to Marry (Winona and Yule) novel Chapter 353

Winona poured two glasses of juice, her expression calm. "Yeah. But it's not some sudden crisis of conscience. He's playing an angle."

Rhea walked over, her brow furrowing. "What angle?"

Winona looked at her. "Think about it. We aren't legally married. Even though we lived together as a couple, in the eyes of the law, I'm technically just a third party."

Rhea, who had fought countless divorce battles and helped wives claw back assets from mistresses, instantly connected the dots. Her face flushed with anger. "That son of a bitch! He knows the legal loophole! He's pretending to be generous so he can take it back whenever he wants. What absolute, disgusting trash!"

"Exactly," Winona said calmly. "That's why I've asked Mr. Yarwood to help me find a buyer. I'm selling the shares."

Rhea's anger evaporated, replaced by a massive, beaming smile. "Yes! Once the cash is in your account, there is absolutely nothing he can do to get it back! Oh my god, Winona, two percent is worth a fortune. You're about to be a rich woman."

Winona nodded toward the table. "Let's eat first."

Her mood instantly lifted, Rhea suddenly had a massive appetite. She grabbed a fork, served Winona a piece of fish, and then took a huge bite herself. "Eat up, rich bestie! I can't believe my lifelong dream of my best friend getting loaded and spoiling me is actually coming true."

Winona looked at Rhea's slightly thinner face, a wave of guilt washing over her. "It's all my fault you got targeted at work and had to suffer through that awful trip. I'm so sorry, Rhea."

"You didn't do anything wrong, so stop apologizing. Honestly, right now, I only care about one thing: the minute you sell those shares, I hope the Locke Group goes down in flames. I want their stock to tank and the company to go bankrupt! That's what they get for bullying you."

Winona smiled faintly. "Let's hope your bad-luck wishes come true this time."

Camille was just about to head home when her phone rang. It was a well-connected friend in the finance sector.

"Camille, is something going down at the Locke Group? I just got tipped off that you guys are liquidating shares."

Camille was stunned. "What? That's impossible."

"Word on the street is some woman in Riverton is shopping around two percent of your stock. You better look into it before the rumors mess with your share price."

Though Nolan didn't quite understand why Stefan didn't just contact Winona directly, he knew better than to pry. He would simply continue to report on Winona's situation as instructed.

After work, Winona walked out of the building and immediately spotted Camille's car idling near the curb. She considered pretending she hadn't seen it, but Camille was already marching toward her.

"We need to talk, Winona."

Winona got into the car, and they drove to a nearby private club.

Once they were seated in a secluded booth, Camille cut straight to the chase. "You're trying to sell Locke Group stock?"

Winona hadn't expected her to find out this fast, but she simply nodded. "Yes. Is that a problem? Yulen gave me the equity. It's mine to do with as I please."

"Are you playing dumb on purpose?" Camille snapped, her eyes narrowing. "You know damn well my brother gave you those shares with the expectation that you'd hold onto them. And you're sneaking around trying to sell them behind his back!"

Winona offered a nonchalant smile. "He hides plenty of things from me. What does it matter if I hide this one thing from him?"
