The Unwanted Wife's Return (Ex-Husband Wants Me Back) novel Chapter 36

He Hasn’t Let Her Go

3RD POV:

THE NEXT DAY:

Elijah never returned home after snapping at Janet and rather stayed at his penthouse, where he had everything he needed for work except his briefcase which he had just called his assistant to go pick up on his behalf.

Janet, on the other hand, had thrown a fit after Jacob and Cherry had left just a minute after Elijah had stormed out. She destroyed all the plates and even threw one of the chairs into the pool, then grabbed a drink, drank until she passed out in the home office after thinking long and hard about destroying his documents.

While Jacob and Cherry discussed how life must have been so tiring for Elijah and eventually made love for the time they had spent apart.

The sun has risen after such a chaotic night and for Janet, her morning began with repeated heavy knocking on the office door.

“I think she fell asleep in the office.” One of the maids muttered to the other.

“What happened here last time? Did I also mention Mr Martinez’s sports car isn’t in the garage?” The other asked in a whisper then knocked on the door yet again.

“How did you even notice in the dozen of cars there?” She raised her eyebrows knowingly.

The other cackled and blushed, “I know his favorite car, and I know when his absence is missing. He doesn’t know it, but he’s my man and that’s why I know he really needs this briefcase.” She spoke the last sentence with irritation at Janet not opening the door.

“I’m certain she’s passed out in there. We should find a way to get it open soon.” She hit the door repeatedly yet again finally jolting Janet up from her slumber and her head was directly on the briefcase.

“Good morning ma’am, Mr Martinez’s assistant is here to pick up briefcase.” The loud voice of the maid echoed in her ears, making her growl and kiss her teeth in irritation due to her hangover.

“I’m coming.” Her voice was barely over a whisper and tiredly shuffled around, only to look back in front of her and notice the briefcase right in front of her.

Just as she rose to her feet to give the briefcase, all its content spilled all over the floor. She kissed her teeth in irritation as she bent over to pack it all back only for the other maid to knock and call out her name.

“I’m coming!” Janet snapped, and groaned after as her head was throbbing so hard and fast, it was hurting her.

“Last night, Elijah and I got into a huge fight and he practically dumped me. But it was all part of his huge plan to propose to me because I think my sister is back and he filed for a divorce without telling anybody. Girl!!!” Her excitement instantly made her friend excited.

“This is huge! This is good! This is perfect! I really should start addressing you as ‘Mrs Martinez’!” They both laughed and continued discussing how huge the rock would be, and how they needed to go shopping for a new dress to be ready.

While on the other side of town, Elijah was driving to work in his sport car and questioning his assistant while on call, “Okay, thank you for getting the briefcase but I need you to help me with something else.”

“Anything sir.” She responded and he heaved a sigh contemplating whether or not to trust her with this task.

“Umm… I need you to help me get the address of the head office of the fashion company, Prestige. I need it before noon.” He stated after concluding she was his assistant after all.

“Alright, sir, I’m on it.” She replied and he hung up after without saying anything else.

After last night, he had concluded he needed to confront Hannah in order to fully rest as he had been zooming in and out of the pictures with Lucas and the twins as he recalled where he had known Lucas from, and it was at the meeting that day.

“If he was her business partner then whose kids were those?” He thought to himself trying to get a good look at the kids while at the penthouse.
