The Unwanted Wife's Return (Ex-Husband Wants Me Back) novel Chapter 181

Wearing Mirada’s Love

HANNAH’S POV:

The dress brushed softly against the polished floor as I walked, the train flowing behind me. My breath hitched slightly when I thought about what I was actually wearing, the significance of it.

This was my mother’s wedding dress. My beautiful Mirada’s dress.

Her name still felt like poetry every time I thought it or said it out loud.

I’d been absolutely over the moon when Aunt Adele had first shown me pictures of my mother wearing this exact gown on her own wedding day to my father Aaron. Then she’d carefully brought out the preserved dress and offered to let me wear it.

The gown had been lovingly and carefully restored and transformed by my design team. It still held its original soul, its history, but had been shaped and tailored to fit my body and my style.

The neckline had been softened and modernized. The sleeves had been tailored to be more contemporary. The train had been lengthened just enough to create that perfect whisper of elegance and power.

My entire design team had actually cried when they’d first seen the dress on me during the final fitting.

“This is going to be the collection,” they’d said excitedly, talking over each other. “The story behind this dress alone? Everyone who sees it is going to feel something. We should absolutely drop an entire wedding collection based on your designs and this concept.”

I’d been so pleased to hear that, especially since I’d already been thinking along those same lines. A modern homage to legacy and history. Classic designs reimagined for contemporary brides.

I smiled at him through my own tears that were now falling freely. “Thank you, my love. You look pretty incredible yourself.”

The ceremony passed in what felt like both an instant and an eternity at the same time.

The traditional parts, the readings and prayers, went by in a blur. But the vows, those I felt in every cell of my body, in my bones, in my soul.

When it was Elijah’s turn to speak, he didn’t rush through his words. He took his time, looking directly into my eyes like the world had narrowed down to just the two of us standing here.

“This might sound strange,” he began, his voice thick with emotion, “but I promise to never get horribly drunk again like I was at our first wedding. I promise to never let fear make me choose silence when I should be speaking up. I promise to never, ever put anyone else’s needs or wants above yours. I promise to protect you, not because you’re fragile or weak, because you’re absolutely neither of those things, but because you’re precious to me. You’re the most important person in my entire world.”
