The Unwanted Wife's Return (Ex-Husband Wants Me Back) novel Chapter 164

Love Was Waiting

HANNAH’S POV:

When we entered the house, the living room absolutely exploded with sound and color and joy.

Balloons hung everywhere, from the staircase railing, from light fixtures, clustered in corners. Ribbons in every color imaginable were draped across furniture. The dining table was completely covered with plates and platters of food, more food than we could possibly eat.

Cherry ran forward immediately and grabbed my free hand, literally bouncing with excitement.

“Hannah!” she squealed at a pitch that probably only dogs could fully appreciate. “Oh my God, you’re still a bit pale but you look GORGEOUS! Absolutely beautiful!”

Maya came next, hugging me lightly and carefully, mindful of my injuries. “I’m so happy you’re home,” she whispered. “So, so happy.”

Lucas followed, pulling me into a hug without saying a word. But he held on longer than usual, and I could feel him shaking slightly.

Jacob appeared with a beautiful bouquet of flowers, handing them to me with a warm smile before pulling me into a tight embrace.

Elijah stayed close behind me through all of it, like he was attached by an invisible thread. Like he couldn’t stand to be more than a few feet away from me.

The twins absolutely refused to let go of my hands as we all moved together toward the living room. Their little fingers were wrapped around mine, holding on like they were afraid I’d disappear if they let go.

1 noticed staff members peeking out from behind doorways and around corners, all of them smiling warmly at me. Some of them were wiping their eyes.

Then Mrs. Martinez stepped out from the hallway, looking elegant as always. She walked right up to me and gave me a soft, genuine hug.

The twins were running around, high on sugar and excitement, their laughter filling every corner of the house.

I was genuinely happy. More than happy. I was grateful and content and surrounded by love.

Life comes at you so fast sometimes. It can be cruel and painful and unfair.

But it’s absolutely amazing when you come through the fire, literally and figuratively, and you have incredible people standing beside you to support you through it.

I looked around at all these beautiful faces. My chosen family. My people.

And I knew, with absolute certainty, that I was exactly where I was supposed to be.

Home.
