The Unwanted Wife's Return (Ex-Husband Wants Me Back) novel Chapter 123

Rose Gold and Starlight

HANNAH’S POV:

A FEW DAYS LATER:

“Where are we going?” Lasked, laughing and trying to calculate my steps as Elijah guided me with his hands over my eyes.

He didn’t answer. He only chuckled under his breath, warm and teasing, the sound vibrating close to my ear as he walked behind me. I could feel his breath on my neck, the gentle press of his palm at the small of my back, and it sent butterflies through my entire body.

Earlier, he’d had Maya help me get dressed in this absolutely gorgeous red gown with shimmering stones sewn into the fabric. It was stunning, honestly one of the most beautiful dresses I’d ever worn. It was fitted, hugging my curves in a way that made me feel confident and sexy, with a modest amount of cleavage on display. When Elijah had first seen me in it, his jaw had literally dropped. He’d just stood there, staring at me with this look of pure awe that made me blush from head to toe.

“Elijah,” I whined playfully, gripping his arm as I tried not to trip over my heels. “I swear if you make me fall…”

“I won’t,” he murmured, his voice soft and reassuring as he nudged my shoulder with his chin. “I’ve got you, beautiful. Always.”

My heart squeezed at that word. Always. He didn’t throw words like that around carelessly anymore. Every time he said something like ‘always’ or ‘forever,’ I could feel the sincerity behind it, wrapping around me like the warmest blanket.

We’d been walking for what felt like several minutes now. I could hear different sounds around us: distant music, maybe waves? And I could smell something wonderful. Roses, definitely roses. And was that vanilla? Some kind of sweet candle scent mixing with the salt air.

“Elijah, seriously, what is this?” I asked, my voice coming out nervous and excited at the same time.

“You’ll see.” I could hear the smile in his voice. “Are you ready?”

“Yes! I’ve been ready!” I nodded frantically, feeling my body heat up with anticipation as he stood behind me.

His hands moved to the blindfold, his fingers brushing against my temples as he carefully untied it. “Okay. Open your eyes.”

He stepped closer, his fingers brushing my wrist before sliding his hand into mine, our fingers interlocking perfectly. “Come with Ine.”

We walked slowly toward the table, and I tried to take everything in. The night sky above us, dotted with stars. The soft, romantic music drifting out from inside the restaurant like a gentle whisper. The way the candlelight danced across Elijah’s face, making his features look even more handsome than usual. The sound of waves crashing softly against the shore somewhere below us.

It was perfect. Like really perfect.

He pulled my chair out for me like the gentleman he’d become, and I sat down, still trying to steady my heartbeat and process everything I was seeing.

“This is so beautiful,” I said, looking around with wide eyes before meeting his gaze. “You didn’t have to do all this.”

“Yes, I did.” He took his seat across from me, his eyes never leaving mine. “You deserve beauty, Hannah. You deserve intention and effort and romance. You deserve more than the world ever gave you, and I made a promise to myself that I’d spend the rest of my life trying to give you everything you deserve.”
