The Unwanted Wife's Return (Ex-Husband Wants Me Back) novel Chapter 116

Our Little Celebration

HANNAH’S POV:

He parked outside one of my favorite restaurants. It was called Lovelies and it was a cozy little place that made the best homemade takeouts. It was one of the notable identifications for me at how the city had developed over the past years of my absence. I remember there used to be a small restaurant at this spot and my parents had pointed out that the food was disgusting so we had never tried it.

Lovelies was different, and they always had customers and they were always so efficient and kind.

“You stay,” he announced but in a way that he was waiting to see if I was in agreement or not. “I’ll get the food.”

“No, I want air. I’ll come with you.” I told him with certainty but he still searched my eyes for a second then nodded.

He stepped out and holding the door open for me. We walked side-by-side, his hand brushing mine occasionally ready to catch me if I stumbled and I found it so cute because I was feeling a lot better.

Inside, the warm smell of roasted spices and fresh pastries hugged the air.

“What do you feel like?” he asked.

“Maybe… soup, Italian and…I don’t know…”

My throat tightened. “Just something comforting.”

He nodded. “Alright. I know something that might help.”

Then to the chef behind the counter: “We’ll take two orders of the special, extra chicken, extra sauce, Italian, and

.” He glanced at me. “A nice box of cake?”

I blinked repeatedly and frowned. “Cake? For what?”

He didn’t answer my question but rather asked, “What flavor would you prefer?”

I shook my head and said, “Chocolate and red velvet.”

I looked up at him, at the sincerity in his eyes, and my heart fluttered. Honest admiration. From Elijah. It still shocks me sometimes.

“You’re proud of me?” I whispered in a flirty way, keeping my eyes locked on his.

“I’m always proud of you,” he answered without hesitation which made my cheeks warm.

“We’re celebrating properly tonight. The nanny told me the kids are still up and waiting for us. So yeah, you deserve to be celebrated and know we are all proud of you.” I smiled at his words.

Food in hand, we walked back to the car, and he reached for my hand again before helping me in. The little gestures, small, thoughtful, always caught me off guard.

By the time we pulled into the driveway at home, I felt more grounded. Less shaken. But something still lingered at the edges of my mind like a shadow. I just continued to dismiss it.

The twins were already waiting at the door with huge smiles with card for me which drew the four of us and it was boldly written,

Congratulation
