Juno gave a vague, noncommittal hum. "Yeah. Just bumped into him by accident."
Gwendolyn finally noticed the cowering girl pressed against the wall. "Oh, Janet, you're here too. Did you come to visit Babur?"
Janet plastered on a perfect, polite smile. "Yes, Mrs. Corrington. I was just checking on him. I'll get out of your hair now."
"Juno, why don't you walk her to the elevator?"
"No!" Janet blurted out instantly. Seeing Gwendolyn's confused look, she quickly backpedaled. "I mean, it's right down the hall. I know the way. There's no need to bother her."
Without waiting for a response, she bolted down the corridor like her life depended on it.
There was no way in hell she was letting that psycho anywhere near her again.
In the room next door.
Morgan's glare was absolutely lethal. "Back off."
Miles held his hands up defensively. "It's not my fault you brought a small army with you. The suite is nice, but you can't fit forty massive dudes in here."
Just moments ago, the lookouts down the hall had spotted Gwendolyn stepping off the elevator and immediately radioed Morgan.
Literally one second before she turned the corner, Morgan and his entire security detail had silently filtered into Chuck's hospital room like ghosts.
He wasn't about to cause unnecessary drama for her with her family.
Juno ended up sitting in Babur's room, bored out of her mind, for about three hours. Eventually, Gwendolyn stood up. "Juno, could you run and get some fresh water? I'm going to head down to the cafeteria and grab us some lunch. Rhiannon should be stopping by soon."
"Sure."
She grabbed the insulated pitcher and strolled out to the water dispenser.
The exact second she left the room, Babur felt like a massive, suffocating dark cloud had lifted from his chest.
The entire time she had been sitting there, he hadn't dared to take a full breath.
But the moment both women were gone, a group of sneering, rough-looking street thugs swaggered into his room.
"Well look at this. The little rich boy gets a fancy VIP suite, huh?"
