The True Heiress: Legend Mode novel Chapter 4

Juno suddenly burst into laughter. "Look at you. You're completely terrified."

She tightened her grip, forcing the blood to flow even faster. "I definitely preferred your arrogant attitude from a minute ago."-

"Let me go!!!" Margie shrieked, deaf to everything but the overwhelming fear of death.

Seeing her panic, Juno pressed her fingers down even harder.

Rhiannon desperately wanted to step in and play the hero, but remembering the absolute savagery she had witnessed in the hospital room, she froze. She couldn't expect Margie, who was currently fighting for her own life, to protect her.

"If you ever try to defend that pathetic imposter in front of me again, I'll drain you dry."

With that, Juno abruptly released her.

All of Margie's previous arrogance had vanished. She was shaking uncontrollably, screaming until her vocal cords nearly tore. "Get me to a hospital!!!"

She clamped her other hand over the gash on her wrist, frantically trying to staunch the bleeding.

Rhiannon quickly ordered the maids to escort her aunt to the ER. The entire dining room carried a faint metallic tang. Sickened by the smell of blood, she hovered by the doorway, too afraid to enter.

Juno slowly turned around, giving her a calm, assessing look. "Your beloved aunt is on her way to the hospital. Aren't you going to go play the dutiful niece?"

Rhiannon bit her lip, refusing to speak. She wasn't suicidal. There was zero benefit in clashing with Juno directly right now. She'd bide her time and plot her revenge from the shadows.

Rhiannon spun on her heel to leave. So much had gone wrong today; she just wanted to hide in her room until her parents returned.

The old maid hurried over, lowering her voice. "Miss Rhiannon, thank goodness you're back. She completely hijacked your bedroom. I tried everything to stop her, but she wouldn't listen. What are we going to do?"

Rhiannon glanced toward the dining room, forcing a carefree smile. "It's fine. I can sleep anywhere. Please don't stoop to her level. She grew up in the country—she has no manners and acts like a wild animal. I don't want you getting hurt over a room.”

“I don't care what happens to me, I just hate seeing you wronged. Miss Rhiannon, you're such a sweet girl. Don't let someone like her ruin your happiness." The maid wiped away her tears, her hatred for the new arrival solidifying.

Rhiannon offered a tight smile. "I'm going to go rest now."
