The True Heiress: Legend Mode novel Chapter 30

Half an hour later, the doctor stepped back, wiping heavy sweat from his brow. "It's severe trauma to the bones and tendons. He's looking at a hundred days of absolute bed rest right here in the hospital."

Darcey completely ignored the doctor, rushing to the bedside to dab the sweat from Braden's forehead. "Are you feeling any better, sweetheart? Don't you worry. I've already sent our men to drag that little bitch here. Mommy's going to get justice for you."

Braden nodded feverishly. "You better not let her off easy!"

A heavy knock interrupted them. "Mrs. Webb. We've brought the target."

Two burly bodyguards dragged an unconscious Rhoda Sloane into the room by her arms.

Darcey let out a vicious sneer and marched over, violently grabbing Rhoda by the chin. "Just look at this pathetic trash. You actually dared lay a hand on my son?!"

Without a second thought, she delivered a brutal, ringing slap across Rhoda's face.

Rhoda let out a muffled groan. The chloroform had just started wearing off, and the explosive sting of the slap jolted her semi-awake.

She struggled to pry her heavy eyelids open. A blinding white ceiling and the sharp stench of antiseptics immediately told her she was in a hospital.

Darcey gave a cold flick of her eyes. The bodyguards carelessly dumped Rhoda onto the hard floor.

Darcey immediately slammed the heel of her designer shoe into Rhoda's back, grinding it down maliciously. "You little whore. Are you the reason my son is in this bed?!"

Braden lay propped up against his pillows, comfortably chewing on an apple a nurse was feeding him. "Hit her harder, Mom! She broke my bones! Don't let her off easy! Oh, right! There was another one! Some newly found heiress from the Corrington family! I want her destroyed too!"

Darcey smiled wickedly. "Of course, baby! I'll go directly to the Corringtons and demand they hand her over!"

At that exact moment, Darcey's bodyguards had already arrived at the Corrington estate. Since they were dealing with a powerhouse family, they couldn't just violently abduct Juno like they did Rhoda. They respectfully, yet firmly, relayed their version of events.

Gwendolyn's face tightened in confusion. "Are you saying Juno hospitalized someone?"

"Yes, ma'am. We respectfully request that you bring Ms. Mercer out to face accountability."

"She isn't here right now," Gwendolyn stated coldly. "But I will go with you."

Rhiannon, having eavesdropped on the entire exchange, immediately stepped forward. "Mother, I'm coming with you."

"Fine."

Harrison Corrington just happened to walk through the front doors, looking completely baffled at the standoff in his foyer. "What exactly is going on here?"

"Juno supposedly put someone in the hospital. We need to go assess the situation."

Harrison's expression instantly darkened. "We go together."
