The old woman slid a specific tarot card across the table. "This is her spiritual signature. Take it with you."
"Boss, we've arrived."
The driver's voice snapped Morgan out of his flashback.
Looking through the tinted window, he observed the somewhat dilapidated detached house.
"Should we head inside?"
"We wait," Morgan replied calmly.
They waited until nearly dusk before Juno finally finished her business and walked out. The convoy of sleek black cars sat idling silently in the distance.
Rhoda, heavily bundled in a thick blanket and sounding severely congested, sniffled. "Sorry for making you come all the way out here today."
Juno looked down, casually adjusting her cuffs. "It's fine. Call me if you need anything."
"I will."
Rhoda watched Juno walk away before turning to shut the door. Suddenly, a massive, gloved hand shot through the gap. Before she could even process what was happening, a rag clamped over her face, and her world went completely black.
Juno hadn't walked far when she felt an intense, heavy gaze glued to her back. Her eyes sharpened with lethal intent. "Come out."
Slow, deliberately heavy footsteps approached from behind. Just as the figure closed the distance, Juno whipped around, ready to strike—but froze in absolute shock for a split second.
It was Morgan.
Morgan didn't say a single word. His face was stone cold as he instantly launched an attack.
Juno raised her arm to block a brutal strike, immediately retaliating with a vicious roundhouse kick. Morgan subtly shifted his weight, dodging by a millimeter, before unleashing another relentless barrage.
They moved at terrifying, blinding speeds. In the blink of an eye, Morgan halted his assault and stepped back, standing perfectly still.
The evening wind carried a biting chill, stirring the dangerous tension lingering in the air.
Juno's breathing was slightly ragged. This body was still far too weak.
She had barely managed to fight Morgan to a draw.
Morgan immediately bowed at a perfect ninety-degree angle. "My Lord."
"Mm," Juno acknowledged.
She didn't offer any explanations. Blackwood City operatives always verified their intel before making a move. Morgan wouldn't have ambushed her without absolute certainty of her identity, which meant she didn't need to waste time explaining her resurrection.
"Will you be returning with us?"
"Not right now."
"Then I will remain by your side."
