Standing behind them, Miles's eyes widened. He mentally gave Juno a massive thumbs-up.
"And who are you?" Janet finally snapped, forced to acknowledge Juno's existence.
She had been trying her hardest to pretend the other woman wasn't there.
But Juno was practically dancing on her last nerve.
"Who I am is none of your business," Juno replied, offering zero courtesy.
Janet's face turned ugly. "Who do you think you are? Do you even have an invitation?!"
Chuck's voice cut through the air, chillingly thin. "She's with me. Do you have a problem with that, Ms. Dempsey?"
"Chuck... you..."
Janet looked frantically between Chuck and Juno before finally stomping off in a furious huff.
"You really can't behave for a single minute, can you?" A voice sneered from behind.
Juno turned her head. It was Margie Corrington.
Apparently, Aunt Margie had made an appearance tonight.
Juno let out a dry, amused laugh. "Well, well. You've been discharged from the hospital, Margie?"
Her gaze drifted downward, landing pointedly on the older woman's wrist.
A decorative gauze bandage was wrapped tightly around the slender joint.
"I heard you bullied Rhiannon quite a bit while I was hospitalized. I suggest you find some self-awareness. I'm out now, and I won't sit back and watch you run wild!"
Juno's voice turned icy. "It seems I went entirely too easy on you. I should have let more blood drain. Otherwise, how could you still have the nerve to carelessly provoke me like this?"
"Don't you dare get arrogant with me, Juno!"
Juno didn't respond. She just stared at her with a dead, unnerving calm.
Margie let out an angry huff and stormed away.
Juno was starting to get genuinely annoyed by the constant swarm of flies buzzing around her.
"Do you need me to take care of her for you?" Chuck asked.
