The Scorned Heiress: No More Mercy novel Chapter 608

"Don't worry. She’ll regret crossing me soon enough," Tara replies coolly. She is deliberately holding back. Until she uncovers the full extent of the Sinclair family's secrets, she needs to stay in the shadows and figure out exactly who is pulling the strings.

Bonnie’s loud barking is an annoyance, but Julianna’s utter silence is what sets off Tara's alarms. The dogs that don't bark are the ones that tear out your throat. Julianna might lack Jade's blinding arrogance, but her manipulative aura is unmistakable.

As they browse the menu, Tara’s phone chimes. It’s a text from Danny. Recently, the two of them have fallen into an effortless rhythm of constant communication. Even during his most chaotic business days, he always finds an excuse to message her. It proves the old saying: if a man truly wants you, he will make the time.

[I’m actually driving past that area. Mind if I crash your lunch?]

[Probably not a good idea. I’m with my best friend. It might be awkward,] Tara types back.

[I don’t mind being the only guy. Why would it be awkward?] He replies instantly. He clearly isn't going to take no for an answer.

[I’m worried about Tricia feeling uncomfortable, you idiot.]

"Oh, look at you! You are absolutely glowing," Tricia teases, thoroughly enjoying the sight of her best friend so visibly in love. Danny is lightyears better than that insufferable mommy's boy, Evan.

"Shut up, I am not," Tara blushes.

"Honestly, Bianca and I are rooting for you two so hard. A power couple with his money and your brains? The sexual tension alone is off the charts."
