Tara shakes her head, deeply amused but touched by their chaotic overprotectiveness.

"It is absolutely serious. Better safe than sorry. Your only job right now is to lay down and rest," Jake commands, his expression as grave as if he were negotiating a billion-dollar merger.

Knowing it is easier to comply than argue, Tara obediently shuffles over to the plush sofa and reclines against the pillows. The second she sits down, Alec—who had been lounging on the opposite end scrolling through his phone—leaps off the cushions like he's been electrocuted.

"What is wrong with you?" Tara asks, blinking in confusion at his sudden panic.

"Tara, you have to warn me before you sit down next to me! What if I had flailed and hit you?" Alec gasps, pressing a hand to his chest. He knows he is a wildly chaotic sitter, prone to stretching and thrashing. If he accidentally elbowed his pregnant sister, the combined wrath of the Dennis and Calhoun families would end his life.

"Are you kidding me?" Tara sighs. "Can everyone please just take a breath? I'm carrying a baby, not a live grenade. I'm not that fragile. Besides, I'm barely out of my first trimester. I need to stay active, not be treated like an invalid on life support."

Despite her frustration, she can't help but laugh at Alec's horrified expression. He looks like a cornered cat waiting for a bomb to go off.

Jake steps in, fiercely defending his brother's paranoia. "Alec is right. We have to mitigate all potential risks! You are a high-value target right now."

Tara groans, rubbing her temples. These two are completely out of their minds. "It's really not that deep. I feel perfectly nor—"
