The Scorned Heiress: No More Mercy novel Chapter 609

They continue chatting, deciding to hold off on ordering the main courses until Danny arrives.

"I was going to stick to a salad today, but if he is paying, I am absolutely gorging myself," Tricia jokes, rubbing her hands together like a cartoon villain.

Tara chuckles. "It's just lunch. Even if you ate until you exploded, you couldn't dent his wallet."

The easy atmosphere is abruptly shattered by a sudden, chaotic uproar echoing from the corridor. They hear the frantic stampede of footsteps and panicked shouting.

"What the hell is going on out there? Is there a fire?" Tricia frowns, dropping her silverware.

"I doubt it. Let’s go check." Tara stands up immediately. A high-end establishment like this has state-of-the-art fire suppression systems. The commotion sounds localized. Besides, she thought she heard someone scream Lindsay's name.

Inside, the scene is absolute bedlam. Bonnie is wailing hysterically.

"Oh my god, what do we do?! Grandma, wake up! I called dad! Where the hell is the ambulance?!"

Julianna is kneeling next to Lindsay, holding her grandmother's shoulders but doing absolutely nothing else. Despite her extensive medical background, she is paralyzed by the fear of liability. If she attempts a maneuver and Lindsay dies anyway, the entire family will blame her. She is treating her own flesh and blood like a stranger on the street—terrified to intervene, yet terrified of looking useless.
