The Prison-Made Queen novel Chapter 955

Did something really happen to Callahan?

Jarvis's Adam's apple bobbed as he swallowed hard, the tablet suddenly feeling like it weighed a ton.

He practically dragged his feet as he approached, turning the screen so Dante could see the devastating headline.

Splashed across the front page of the financial news, in a brutally large font, was a death sentence:

[Langley Group Heir Callahan Langley Confirmed Dead in Northern Myanor; Uncle Talbot Langley Steps Up to Take Over the Empire]

Beneath the headline was a high-resolution photo of Talbot being mobbed by reporters outside the glass doors of the Langley Group headquarters.

He was dressed in an immaculately tailored black suit, wearing an expression of perfectly calculated grief and exhaustion. But if you looked closely into his slightly downturned eyes, there was an unmistakable, razor-sharp glint of suppressed ambition—a hunger that was finally breaking free.

"Bullshit! It's complete bullshit! My grandson is alive! Who has the sheer audacity to spread this trash?!"

Dante slammed his hand on the table, rattling the plates.

His advanced age, combined with the lack of sleep and the brutal shock of the betrayal, sent his blood pressure skyrocketing. His entire body shook with an uncontrollable rage.

His vision went black. He swayed dangerously, nearly tipping backward out of his chair.

Just then, the massive flat-screen TV in the living room—perhaps bumped during the chaos—flared to life. The morning financial news was playing, the anchor speaking in a measured, clinical tone.

"...The tragic passing of Mr. Callahan Langley is undoubtedly a devastating blow to the rapidly expanding Langley Group. The stock is expected to take a massive hit at the opening bell today."

"Currently, his uncle, Vice President Talbot Langley, has stepped in to act as interim CEO. Industry insiders note that given Mr. Talbot Langley's deep roots and vast experience within the company, he is the only one capable of stabilizing the market and guiding the Langley Group through this crisis..."

The screen cut to a shaky video, obviously shot on a phone, showing reporters ambushing Talbot in a hospital corridor.

A microphone was shoved into his face. "Mr. Langley, what are your thoughts on your nephew's tragic accident?"
