The Prison-Made Queen novel Chapter 937

The doctor leaned closer, leaving Clive no room to evade.

"I... I really can't remember the name..." Clive ducked his head, wishing the floor would swallow him whole. He couldn't meet the doctor's eyes.

Just then, through the slightly ajar clinic door, the hushed but distinct whispers of passing nurses drifted in.

"Hey, did you see the guy who just walked in? Bundled up like a mummy. Doesn't his profile look exactly like... Clive Sloan?"

"Oh my god! Now that you mention it... it really does! But he's so emaciated I didn't even recognize him!"

"Isn't he that canceled pop star from the trending topics? The one with HIV?"

The words were like barbed-wire whips lashing against Clive's ego. He shrank further into his seat. The current Clive was a hollow ghost of the radiant, arrogant superstar who used to own the stage.

Not long ago, he had lived in the spotlight, surrounded by screaming fans and adulation. Now? He felt like a rat scurrying in the gutters, enduring the disgust of strangers.

The older doctor clearly heard the gossip outside. He looked up, casting a deeply empathetic gaze over the withered young man before letting out a heavy sigh.

"I don't know what kind of life you lived before you sat in that chair, but as your physician, I only have one question: Do you want to live?"

"Without running a chemical breakdown of the pills, I can't give you a definitive answer," the doctor said flatly. "But I do know this: if you want to survive, you need to stop taking those mystery pills immediately. That is the only way to save your life right now."

"If you're willing, I strongly suggest you check into the hospital today. We'll run a comprehensive workup to assess the total organ damage, and put you on a safe, regulated treatment plan. Son, listen to me. You have to secure your survival before you can worry about your future. Do you understand?"

The doctor wasn't going to get involved in family drama; the medical climate was already tense enough without him stepping on legal landmines. But his warning was loud and clear.

Even though the doctor phrased it carefully, the truth hit Clive like a physical blow. The reason his body was shutting down was because of the drugs Zeus had given him.
