The Prison-Made Queen novel Chapter 905

He reflexively zoomed in on the picture, his eyes locking onto the clear sign above the hospital entrance.

"Infectious Disease Dept."

Those words seared into his brain. Any lingering hope that it was a misunderstanding or a trick of the light evaporated instantly.

"Holy sh*t... No way," Jax muttered to himself, a cold sweat breaking out across his back.

He recalled how alarmingly thin Clive had looked during that confrontation, and his deeply unsettling behavior during the fight.

Jax realized something was horribly wrong.

Abandoning his game, he violently swiped out of the app. His hands shook as he scrolled frantically through his contacts, hitting the call button the second he found the name.

The phone rang several times, each dial tone stretching Jax's anxiety thinner.

Just as he was about to hang up and redial, the call connected.

There was background noise—muffled music and chatter. Milo's voice came through, laced with the exhaustion of someone who had just finished an event. "Hey, Jax? What's up? I just got off stage, still need to get this makeup off."

"Milo!" Jax's voice pitched up in panic, speaking at machine-gun speed. "Did you see the news? It's about Clive! He's trending right now!"

"Clive?"

Milo paused. Ever since their last clash, hearing that name made his skin crawl.

"So what if he's in the news? Why are you freaking out?"

His voice sharply escalated. "Jax, are you absolutely sure about this?! Send me the link to that article. Now!"

Hearing Jax spell it out, Milo finally connected the dots regarding Clive's bizarre behavior that night. He knew better than anyone what an HIV diagnosis would mean for a celebrity.

"I already texted you the link! Check it!" Jax urged, terrified. "Man, we can't take any chances with this! What if... I mean, just what if..."

Milo didn't reply, but Jax could clearly hear his rapid, ragged breathing and the frantic swiping of a thumb against a phone screen.

A few seconds later, Milo spoke again. His voice had completely morphed, filled with delayed terror, fury, and the chilling realization that a venomous snake had just bitten him. "That lunatic... That absolute piece of trash!"

He hissed through clenched teeth. "That motherf*cker wants to die, and he's trying to drag me down with him?!"
