The Prison-Made Queen novel Chapter 870

Gloria might be filing for divorce, but Fitch was still their biological father. It was incredibly disrespectful for Yvonne to speak that way, regardless of how true it was. More importantly, Milford was still recovering.

Gloria didn't want Yvonne's bitter words to agitate him or drag up the traumatic memory of the fight that had caused him to storm out of the house and nearly get himself killed. If it hadn't been for Fitch's cold-blooded scheming, Gloria never would have walked away from her luxurious life to file for divorce. Her resentment toward her husband ran deep.

Her heart ached for her son. She turned back to him, her tone softening with maternal warmth. "Milford, ignore your sister. Your only job right now is to heal. Don't stress about the details."

"I may be divorcing your father, but I can still take care of you both. I have a vintage apartment on the west side of the city. My parents bought it for me as a wedding gift decades ago. It's a bit old, but it’s spacious enough for the three of us."

The neighborhood was a bit further from the downtown core, but it was incredibly peaceful. The neighbors were quiet, long-term residents—the perfect environment for Milford to recover physically and mentally.

Her actions proved she was severing ties with the Sherwood empire entirely. It was obvious to everyone that Gloria wasn't bluffing; she was completely done with Fitch.

Milford had never imagined that in his twenties, he would be dealing with his parents' divorce. He fell silent, unsure of what to say. He looked out the window at the endless blue sky, swallowing hard.

Their family had been entirely destroyed by business and ambition. Gloria wanted absolutely nothing to do with the Sherwood Group.

Fitch was a bottomless pit of greed. He had sacrificed his own flesh and blood to expand his corporate empire. Who knew what psychotic depths he would sink to next?

Watching her children suffer back-to-back tragedies had broken her. They couldn't survive living like that anymore. From now on, it was just the three of them, living a quiet, normal life.
