The Platonic Trap novel Chapter 14

Evelyn nodded hesitantly. Before walking out of the lounge, she shot Celia a quick glance.

Suddenly, the room was empty except for Celia and Talbot.

"Norma is on her way. When she gets here, you are going to give her a proper apology, understand?"

Celia remained silent.

"Norma hasn't stopped crying since she got home yesterday. She said you bullied her and humiliated her at your family's house." Talbot looked at her, his eyes full of disappointment. "Celia, what happened to you?"

Celia still didn't say a word.

"Speak!" Talbot snapped, his brow furrowing. "Don't you have anything to say for yourself?"

Finally, Celia looked up at him. "Is it true what the tabloids are saying?"

A flash of panic crossed Talbot's eyes, quickly replaced by an even deeper scowl. "What news? Stop trying to change the subject!"

"The photos of you holding hands with a girl at the mall, looking very intimate."

"Celia!" Talbot lashed out defensively, glaring fiercely. "Are you seriously going to believe baseless gossip over me?"

Celia thought his acting was painfully atrocious.

Every time she hit the nail on the head, he would just fly into a defensive rage, turning it around on her as if getting angry was the only way to reclaim the moral high ground.

"I can't believe how unreasonable you've become!" Talbot said coldly. "Sit here and reflect on your behavior. Come find me when you've finally come to your senses."

Likely anxious to go comfort his little sweetheart, Talbot tossed out a few dismissive words and stormed out of the lounge.

Watching him leave, Celia raised a brow and let out a soft scoff.

She checked the time on her phone.

She wondered when Alistair's meeting would wrap up. She still had an entire performance to put on for him!

--

Upstairs, the meeting wasn't about anything particularly urgent.
