"An interview?" The receptionist paused, momentarily bewildered.

There was indeed an interview scheduled for today, but why would Ms. Stafford be here applying for a job at Zucker Corp?

Knowing better than to pry into matters above her pay grade, the receptionist quickly recovered, flashing a polished, professional smile. "Of course, Ms. Stafford. Please fill out this application form here."

"Thank you."

After completing the paperwork, Celia was escorted to a conference room on the third floor.

"Please wait here, Ms. Stafford. HR will call you in according to the queue."

"Alright, thanks."

Once the receptionist left, Celia finally noticed the seven or eight other candidates already waiting outside the room.

The candidates took notice of her, too.

They all looked a few years older than Celia, clutching thick, impressive stacks of resumes that practically screamed of their extensive experience.

When they saw that Celia's resume consisted of a single, solitary sheet of paper, contempt flickered in their eyes.

"How does Zucker Corp let just anyone in these days?"

A man with glasses muttered out of the blue. His voice was low, but the disdain in his tone was completely unfiltered.

A powerhouse like Zucker Corporation had always operated strictly on merit. Celia was incredibly young, and with her soft, obedient appearance, she looked like an easy target.

Celia didn't bother engaging. She quietly moved to the very back of the line, leaning her slender frame against the wall, loosely gripping the single piece of paper bearing only a few lines of text.

Seeing her stay silent, the man in glasses grew even bolder, convinced she was a pushover.

He turned around and barked at her coldly, "Hey, I'm talking to you. Are you deaf?"

Celia lifted her gaze. Her eyes were soft and innocent as they met his. "Is something wrong, pops?"

"Pops?!" The man's eyes bugged out, his voice instantly shooting up several decibels. "Who are you calling pops?! I'm twenty-five!"
