Ophelia swallowed. Hard.
“Should I really?” Ophelia parted her lips, wanting to object to his repeated question. She’s not sure why, but he made it sound like she was in the wrong in this situation. She had every right to be furious with him after what he just said, so why was he so…
“Yes!” She breathed out and she saw his eyes widen with extreme wildness which made her choke in her words. She blinked rapidly realizing that she was only provoking him and for an obvious reason, she didn’t feel bad about it.
“What are you trying to do?” She had to inquire, her eyebrows lifted in perplexed awe. Was he attempting to terrify her? Was he attempting to play the victim here?
Ophelia snorted.
Nikolai’s eyes flashed.
“You don’t have a right to be mad at me, Nikolai; you just showed up out of nowhere, and to be upset with me for meeting my brother is just absurd! And threatening me with my family is absolutely horrible!” She pointed at his forehead after saying in an authoritative, entirely serious tone. He needed to know that she wouldn’t accept his threats from her. Unfortunately, he was messed up and too hot for her to handle, but who said she couldn’t try?
His eyes became more intense, and despite her best efforts, she was unable to free herself from the hold those sparkling eyes had on her. Noticing the lines on his forehead, she blinked quickly, thinking he would at least blink while staring at her so intensively.

Ophelia caught her breath as she pondered how long the strange silence that had started would last. She became aware of how challenging it was to read Nikolai as she continued to stare at him, who had a battered
countenance. Yes, she could tell that he was upset with her, but something about the darkness and hatred that spilled from his gaze made her wonder what else was hiding beneath his anger.
Ophelia was more aware than ever that she was holding her breath as the silence grew unduly oppressive and increasingly strange. She gave him a wide–eyed look before becoming unblinking like him. The more she gazed into his eyes, the more she noticed his wrath ebbing away little by little until all she could make out was the customary darkness in his eyes.
When would he at least say something? she wondered as she bit her bottom lip. Both movement and sound were impossible for her. Was he about to scream at her? She merely expressed her opinion, therefore why would he yell at her when he deserved harsh words from her.
Heaving heavily, she let out a breath and put her palm on her chest without looking away from his gaze, which briefly shook at her movement before becoming even more focused.
Ophelia fought against the need to tremble as she felt herself melting in that gaze, which had suddenly grown hotter than it had been.
‘Gods!‘ She shrieked in the depths of her consciousness, “What is happening?!”
As the stillness got uncomfortable, she started to hear her own pounding heart. Her heart was racing wildly and was surely completely audible to his ears.
Fed up, she abruptly parted her lips to begin speaking. “Nik..” Before she could continue, his lips suddenly crashed on hers,

He hungrily plunged his tongue into her mouth, entangling his tongue with hers. He grasped her upper lip between his teeth and softly sucked before releasing his hold on her lips.
Only a hair’s breadth separated their lips, and Ophelia was completely confused and startled by the abrupt incursion.
“Fuck!” She exhaled in full amazement. Her face felt exceedingly heated, and she was certain that it was currently very red. She desired to scurry upward into a hole.
“I’m sorry.” His scalding breath brushed over her lips and she felt shivers go through her body like violent electricity.
Ophelia’s ears surprised her. Despite the gentle whisper that made goosebumps on her skin feel as if they were in need of air, she could clearly hear him. That phrase… That kiss… Both were totally unanticipated. She couldn’t imagine how deeply her comments would cut through him, causing him to feel the need to express regret to her. Even though it wasn’t the first time he had apologized, she could see he meant it, and it calmed her pounding pulse. She was immediately plagued with guilt. Not as a result of what she had said to him before; he fully deserved that, but rather as a result of her plans. To stop the war, she intended to utilize Nikolai. She thought of herself as abusing him. He had informed her that he only wanted her and didn’t want any troubles in his life, but she was already planning to cause trouble and had started creating issues for herself. She was preparing to utilize this insane lycan, who cared for her, to track down the moles who were providing information to her father and uncle.
Ophelia closed her eyes, trying to hide the emotions he had caused her to experience. She had faith in him, regardless of his temperament, that he would never hurt her. Despite the fact that she was seldom left alone, even though he hadn’t been gone for long, she was desperately missing

him. Even after Vladmir’s statements, she continued to melt at Nikolai’s
glances and much more so at his kisses!
It was all just too intoxicating! She needed to construct a wall around herself! It would be bad if she became infatuated with him because she was becoming attached to him. She had to construct a wall because, in her heart of hearts, she understood that everything attributed to fate was accurate and could not be changed. She aimed to construct an impenetrable wall that Nikolai would never be able to completely breach.
Her back was crushed against the shelf, and it was beginning to hurt as she turned her head away and opened her eyes. “Don’t say you’re sorry to me… You must understand how to act around me in particular.” She attempted, but failed, to control the trembling in her voice.
Nikolai’s eyes expanded a little before narrowing sharply. His expression softened slightly, but it was clear that he was completely surprised by what she had said. “I really did mean what I said, but I would never hurt you in any way. I simply felt…” She turned her head toward him as he paused and cupped her face. Her glistening hazel gray eyes caught his attention. She was attempting to stifle the emotions that were visible in those eyes of hers.
“I don’t want you to forget about me; instead, I want to invade your thoughts in the same way that you invade mine. I want you to understand how badly I want to spend every moment of my life with you, to hold you in my arms, and to worship every aspect of you. I want you to understand how much I want to have your body crushed up against mine, how badly I want to kiss, devour, and make you scream my name in utter pleasure until you are hot, sweaty, and covered in heat, leaving you gasping for air.” His hot breath graced her skin, her eyes widened, her face turned bright crimson in response to his every phrase.
