Awakening while still in his arms, Ophelia smiled as she lifted her head to meet Nikolai’s eyes, which were tenderly riveted on her. His crimson eyes gleamed and glittered like a tempest that had subsided after emitting lightning bolts. His eyes always appeared to have a mind of their own, which always struck her as unusual. They exposed how twisted and dangerous he was. “Good morning.” ”

Nikolai greeted her softly, “Good morning, darling,” his lips forming a cunning grin. “Tonight is our wedding night-er, I mean wedding.”

He corrected himself, and Ophelia chuckled at how agitated he appeared. “You’re only contemplating that?”

“I am.” With a gentle kiss on her forehead, Nikolai cooed.

Ophelia slid her eyes shut. “I want to eat.” then opened them as she felt

him release her.

“Take your bath, we’ll share breakfast.” Running his fingers through his already untidy hair, Nikolai mumbled.

Since her dress was still torn from his ripping the previous night, Ophelia stood for a while, encircling her body with her arms. Her face heated up as she recalled the event, but she shook it off and wiped away all signs of enthusiasm from her eyes. “What are your immediate plans?”

“What?” Nikolai questioned with his brows raised.

Ophelia scowled. “Your father, Nikolai.”

“Oh.” Although he was intrigued as to why she was so concerned about his deceased father, Nikolai pursed his lips indifferently. “Nothing. Celestia suffers no loss.”

“But your family has suffered a loss.” Ophelia pointed out before glancing away and entering the bathroom.

“Family?” With a snort, Nikolai asked as he quickly got out of bed and took off his shirt. He tossed the shirt away, unconsciously flexing his muscles with his tattoos moving in tandem. When he entered the bathroom, Ophelia was already standing in the center of the bubble-filled pool.

“What exactly do you mean by family?” His eyes drifted to Ophelia as he rubbed the back of his neck and questioned. Her damp jade skin shone, her chest was covered in bubbles, and her wet hair was ornamented with dots of bubbles. She looked like a goddess. She was in every way a goddess. He couldn’t believe that he was genuinely going to marry her that evening or that she would actually be his.

Ophelia turned to look at him with shock. Both his chest and the twelve ridges that led to the V line were clearly visible. She exhaled and turned aside as she felt her body tense up.

“What the hell are you doing here, Nikolai?” With hesitation, she questioned.

“Hmm?” As he drew nearer to the pool and sat on the edge with his legs in the water, Nikolai asked, tilting his head to one side. “I’m here to talk to you and watch you take a bath.”

At the sound of his rich, seductive voice, Ophelia felt a shiver run through her body to her brain and slowly returned her attention to him. His tattoos, which included a serpent that was on his neck and precisely aligned his muscles, gave him a tough appearance.

His gaze. They were on fire and sent an unfathomable, indescribable thrill into her spirit. She bit down on her lower lip as soon as his lips parted to display his fangs.

“You seem to want me to stay and take on more tasks than what I have mentioned.” With malicious burning passion in his eyes, Nikolai murmured.

Ophelia blinked at his words. “You just look…”

“My sweet, you look more appetizing than I do. The discomfort I’m experiencing right now is entirely your fault.” Caspian growled and threw his head back, groaning loudly. The more he tried to keep himself from diving into that water and pinning Ophelia to the edge, the more he could feel his thirst growing. 2

Ophelia vigorously pressed her thighs “Then leave. Staying here is torturing yourself.”

“I am.” As he turned to look at her again, Nikolai grinned heartily. The maddening passion in his eyes grew, and his fangs were still clearly visible. “But I’ll take a bath with you nonetheless.”

Ophelia felt her heart skip at those words. “You…You won’t be able to control yourself!”

Nikolai stood up, grinning, and put his hands in his pockets. “Are you talking to me or to yourself?”

“Both.” Ophelia mumbled as she sidestepped his stare. “Please leave.”

“Soon.” Clicking his tongue, Nikolai turned aside and left the bathroom.

Ophelia took a deep breath to calm herself down, had her bath fast, changed into the robe, and went to her dressing room to take care of herself. When she came back to the bedroom, Rhaziel was waiting at the

door with a frown on his face.

“Greetings to you.” He waved at Ophelia, who awkwardly waved back.

“What’s happening?” Ophelia questioned inquisitively as she turned to

face Nikolai, who had risen silently and was now heading toward the

bathroom.

“Your breakfast.” Rhaziel pointed to the table where a large tray of food was stored and said.

Ophelia smiled broadly, moved to the table, sat down on the chair, and started eating. “Why do you appear upset with Nikolai?”

“If you must know, Nikolai murdered his father the previous evening.” Rhaziel grumbled.

“I do.” Ophelia looked up at Rhaziel, nodding. “However, you don’t appear upset about it.”

Rhaziel groaned. He was unsure of how to tell Ophelia that her future husband nearly devoured the heart of his own father.

“The council has come to talk to him about the matter.” reported Rhaziel.

“You behave more like his beta.” As she ate a spoonful of porridge, Ophelia laughed. “And occasionally his father.”

“He is nothing more than a kid. You all are.” Rhaziel complained. “At this pace, my father will join Nikolai in his crusade for destruction.”

“Huh?” Ophelia was taken aback.

Rhaziel grinned. “I advise you to spend time with your brother and friend. There is a 100% probability that Nikolai will be in a rut tonight.”

Ophelia nearly choked on her food, but she managed to keep back her cough by covering her mouth with a hand. “What?!”

Rhaziel laughed, “Nikolai’s appetite is increasing.”

Ophelia’s pupils flitted. Did this imply that, had the wedding not taken place on that day, Nikolai would have broken his promise? That notion

made her face heat up, but she tried to fend off any other thoughts because of Rhaziel’s presence.

She took her hands out of her mouth and replied, “About yesterday. Where were you two?”

“Are you still distraught at Tiana’s attack on your brother and you?” Rhaziel questioned anxiously.

“I’m not sure if that is the right word, but yes.” Ophelia took a breath and turned her attention back to her food. “Is there anything going on besides the battle at the front lines?”

Rhaziel muttered. “You must inquire of Nikolai.”
