As he slowly and tenderly kissed her, relishing her taste like he was
starving, she closed her eyes and put her hand on his shoulders, grasping with a gentle gasp.

Taking her every breath as he increased his pressure, Nikolai suddenly exhaled into her mouth and broke contact with her lips, relaxing his forehead against hers with his eyes closed.
How would things have turned out if he hadn’t arrived in time?
Listening to her rapid breathing and heartbeat, he gently stroked her face. “Are you in any pain?”
“No.” Ophelia mumbled.
“I’m sorry I wasn’t here.” He murmured, kissing her lips once more.
Ophelia replied by fiercely gripping his shoulders. “I’m fine Nikolai, you arrived just in time.”
In order to observe the little bits of blood smeared on her face, Nikolai lifted her head and cocked his forehead aside, tracing his finger along her chin. Thankfully, it wasn’t her blood because the blood on her garment
was worse.
“What happened?” Concerned, Nikolai questioned as he caressed her skin
and extended his warm touch to her neck.
Ophelia opened her trembling lips. His touch was making her body heat up, and when he slid his fingers to the sensitive spot where he had marked her, she caught his wrist and met his piercing eyes.
“Nik..”
“Tell me.”

“Do not touch.”
A cheeky smile formed on his lips. “Oh? Do you feel sexy when I touch you?”
Ophelia blinked. “Yes. I really do.”
“If you want, I can undress you from this bloody dress.”
His crimson eyes flashed with passion, and Ophelia noticed it. She wanted to let him overcome her better judgment, but she eventually managed to restrain herself by covering his mouth with her hands and sighing deeply.
Nikolai’s eyes slightly broadened. “Oh?”
“When Lev woke up, he discovered the blood pearl in his bedroom, and when he frantically called to it, your mother attacked us.”
“Huh?” Nikolai’s eyes grew even wider before becoming smaller as though he already knew.
“Why do you feign shock?” Ophelia squinted.
“Pain told me everything already,” Nikolai revealed and Ophelia carefully took her hand away from his mouth.
“Does this mean that…”
“If you have the same thoughts, then…”
“It was Tiana.” Ophelia exhaled, absolutely dumbfounded.
“And did you discover the mole?” Nikolai softly questioned.
“Alexander?” Ophelia had to ask. Although it was evident, she decided to disregard it. She rubbed her forehead in annoyance as she closed her eyes. “Tiana is behind everything here… she didn’t…”
“My mother was the only person who recognized I was a child of doom.

For her to learn about it, Tiana must have threatened her.” Nikolai
explained and sat down next to Ophelia, untying the knots holding the
dress from behind.
“However, why is your mother keeping silent about all of this?” Angry, Ophelia questioned. “For the love of gods! She is your mother and the
oracle!”
“I don’t know, I don’t care, but what I do know is that she’s opposed to our union because it will put an end to Celestia, and what I do care about is you.” When he pulled the final rope to complete his speech, Ophelia became aware of his movements.
Exhaling, she stood up and encircled her body with her arms. “What are you doing?”
“Undressing you.” Nikolai smirked as he spoke.
“Nikolai, we have an important topic to discuss!”
“Only you, darling, matter to me among them all.” Then he got to his feet. “Now let me take off that fifth dress from you.”
When Ophelia blinked at him, he put his hands on her shoulders and carefully pulled the dress while maintaining eye contact with her. “When do you believe Tiana communicated to your father and changed his perspective such that he would agree to use you as a weapon to protect Celestia’s prosperity?”
“Father has always detested me because he discovered that I was the child of doom. He wanted nothing to do with me and only wanted to use his own hands to murder me. After I was transferred to Nexus, Tiana most likely appeared to him.” Nikolai whispered and exhaled contentedly as her dress landed on the ground with a thump. She was only wearing undergarments, but her skin sparkled as though beckoning his touch.

Ophelia was, however, still incredibly intrigued and concerned about him despite being under his passionate gaze. “Why do you think Esteban and Rodion want me to return? What if they aren’t really planning to kill me?”
Nikolai drewled, “Darling,” resting a hand on her cheek. “A lot has happened to you, and the day is still young.”
“You want me to relax knowing that I’m putting you in danger?” Incredulous, Ophelia scoffed and questioned. “Do you really believe that just because you’re suddenly Alpha, nothing will go wrong?”
“You’re afraid?” Nikolai asked, raising an eyebrow in astonishment.
Ophelia scowled fiercely, slapped his hand away from her, and strode away, but as she did so, he suddenly materialized in front of the door to the bathroom, exactly where she was going.
“What are you afraid of, FireStorm?” Nikolai whispered softly. He didn’t want to enflame her already enraged temper.
“Aren’t you conscious of the threat surrounding you? You’ll be leaving me soon! You’re going to become a mindless beast! Your actions are really grave. The one item! the one item that has the power to destroy my life is in the hands of the enemy!” Ophelia yelled, her eyes welling up with tears that wouldn’t shed.
Nikolai swallowed, his countenance dropping slowly. “I just wanted to…”
