“Push her in!” Ophelia was being held by the guards as the head guard declared. The guards immediately shoved her into the dungeon and scowled at her as though she had just killed off their entire family.
Ophelia, on the other hand, controlled her balance and stopped herself from collapsing. She elegantly dusted her frock and shot back a vicious gaze with her piercing, golden, reptile-like eyes.
Fortunately, the spell had worn out.
“Check out that glare!” One of the guards gasped, feigning terror.
“We ought to have the power to discipline her ourselves.” One more smugly laughed. “She is such a lovely little thing.”
Ophelia scoffed incredulously, pulling her hair back. “Unbelievable.”
“Stay away from the Alpha’s mate!” A recognizable voice roared.
It was Artem. Since the moment she fought Danil, she had not seen him. Where had he been during that entire period?
“Who in the world are you?” Furiously charging at Artem, the head guard’s fist was caught by Artem without batting an eye.
“The head guard of the Alpha.” He took a recognizable golden insignia out of his pocket and pointed it at the guards’ faces.
Ophelia’s eyes widened. It was a wolf howling to the moon represented in gold.
The guards quickly bent their heads and appeared more than astonished. “We apologize!”
With the exception of the head guard, who continued to glare at Artem

with a combination of hatred and jealousy. “Just because you are of high rank doesn’t give you the authority to abolish the former Alpha’s order. To dissolve the order, the Alpha must physically appear here.”
Putting his badge back in his pocket and releasing the guard’s grip, Artem twitched his lips. “Although I don’t have that authority, I do have the authority to remove you from all of your positions for wanting to take your own independent actions toward the Alpha’s mate.”
The head guard growled. “How dare..”
“Either that, or the Alpha king will kill you horribly.” Artem immediately intervened and smirked as his eyes changed into a silver wolf shape. “Now that I think about it, that might be better.”
The head guard took a step back, blinking startledly. “You…”
“I’ll kill you myself if you don’t leave!” Artem roared, deeply blending his
voice with his beast.
The guards all moved away silently, and Ophelia approached the bars, firmly grasping them. “What kind of wolf shifter are you?”
Artem’s eyes widened, but he soon cracked a mild smile. “Your highness, I am a noble pure blooded lycan beast.” And he politely lowered his head.
Ophelia smiled. Some strange but powerful beings were devoted to Nikolai. She was happy that he had chosen Artem to be the leader of Celestia’s warriors. That was the meaning of the insignia.
A Novikov was no longer the holder of the status of chief warrior. Boris was going to accept the position, Nikolai must have said, but Boris was unworthy of the position. He wasn’t necessarily deserving of the position just because they were family.
“Do you know where my husband is?” Ophelia questioned, still smiling.

“I.. um…” Artem stumbled, agitatedly blinking. He then ruffled his throat. “I
have no idea where he is.”
“Where have you been all of this time?” When she learned that he had no idea where Nikolai had gone, Ophelia pouted bitterly and questioned.
“We have all returned to the imperial castle, and I regret, but that knowledge is highly sensitive.” Artem retorted, bowing slightly.
“Oh.” Ophelia groaned. Who knows what Nikolai was doing? What was he up to these days? “That crafty asshole.”
When she cursed, Artem’s eyes widened, but he soon smiled. “I’ll be here to guard you until he comes back, but I’m not sure I can do that if the former Alpha decides to issue another drastic directive that could harm
you.”
Ophelia bit her bottom lip. Artem was on point. What would happen if Alexander decided to impose another punishment order? “I’ll just have to put up with it till he comes back.”
“Yes, your highness.” Artem added another respectful comment.
Ophelia sighed. The blood pearl… the witch who had assumed the identity of Alina.. still left her rattled. Why Alina of all people? If she didn’t intend to kill her, why did she appear to her in the first place? Danil also…
“Choice?”
“What exactly happened, your highness?” As soon as he saw her frightened expression, Artem questioned.
“What?”
“The wall collapsed. What made you…” He sighed after pausing. “Were you attacked?”
Ophelia nodded.

Gritting his teeth, Artem. “Alpha is going to be really upset about this.”
Ophelia sucked in. It appeared that Artem was well-versed with Nikolai.
“Ophelia Viadislav has been summoned by Alexander Novikov.” A guard yelled out abruptly as soon as he entered the dungeon.
Artem sighed in frustration, and Ophelia faked a smile as if she had anticipated this.
“Get out of my sight!” A recognizable voice screamed with complete authority.
“Esme?” Ophelia called.
Esmeralda hurried to the dungeon and clenched the bars as she gaped at Ophelia. “Lia! What happened? What on earth happened?! I sensed
something… and then heard that you.. Nikolai is not present in the castle to assist you with this!”
The guard who had made the announcement approached the area and unlocked the door. “I advise you to use your time wisely.”
Esme and Artem both had stronger urges than just to hit the guard.
Exhaling deeply, Ophelia walked out.
Unexpectedly, the guard took hold of her arm and pulled her firmly.
