The Lycan's Forbidden Mate novel Chapter 137

137 Alina?

Ophelia gaped in shock. Why, oh why, did he suddenly sound so much like the fire god? Such words…. What did he mean?

Danil laughed out loud at her perplexed expression. “Aw, what a pitiful

face!”

“Danil!” Viktor slammed the table.

“Daniel, you are acting like a child right now.” Yulia grumbled.

“Ophelia, keep away from him.” Esmeralda grumbled, grabbing Ophelia’s arm and pulled her out of the dining room.

Ophelia made no effort to yank her hand away. She attempted to comprehend those statements, letting her thoughts wander. “Choice?”

“What?” Esmeralda froze mid-question and shifted her gaze incredulously to Ophelia. “You’re not allowing his words to get to you, are you?”

“Esme, there is already a lot happening. The fire god continues interfering with my dreams, my father and uncle want to kill me, the family of my future husband despises me, Nikolai has two mates, and I…”

“Your future husband loves you, your best friend cares for you,” Esmeralda cut in, copying Ophelia’s anxious intonation, and smiled at her. “You don’t understand, do you? Nikolai is working hard. Everybody and everything that poses a threat to you and his life is what he is trying to get rid of.”

“But it’s difficult, and his methods are…”

“Insane.” Esmeralda stepped in and giggled.

Ophelia nodded.

“We told ourselves to act as though everything is.. normal.” Ophelia

mumbled before giggling. “We merely stated that to comfort each other.”

Esmeralda pressed her lips disturbed to see Ophelia like this. “Then go

ahead and do it.”

“What?” Ophelia inquired, her eyes widening.

“Act as if nothing is wrong.” Esmeralda informed her, grinning.

“Okay, then.” Ophelia laughed.

Lev’s voice, filled with worry, suddenly resounded behind them, “Ophelia.”

Ophelia and Esmeralda turned to look at him at the same time and noticed that he appeared to be quite uncomfortable.

“Lev?” Ophelia sprinted over and put her hands on his shoulders. “What’s wrong? Why do you look so tense?”

“There’s something I want you to see, I’m sorry.” Lev said abruptly, holding Ophelia’s dress. “Only you.”

Esmeralda recognized right quickly that she wasn’t needed and bowed out gently.

Lev watched her until she left the hallway, at which point he suddenly seized Ophelia’s arm and sped her in the direction of his chamber. And despite being surprised, Ophelia followed her brother without objecting.

Lev shoved the door open, dragged Ophelia inside, and then abruptly shut it. “We have to leave right away, Ophelia! Anywhere besides Celestia, even

if it’s not home.”

He shut the window curtains as he uttered those remarks, turning the room completely dark.

Ophelia looked at him in disbelief and concern. “What’s going on, Lev?”

Lev walked over to the cabinet and said, “I need a flame.”

Ophelia’s palm suddenly lit up in a golden flame, which barely mirrored in the space.

Lev gave the cabinet a serious look. He was fixated on something. “This.”

Ophelia took hesitant steps in his direction, keeping her attention fixed on him. As she did so, she gradually came to understand the dread that filled his eyes. “Why are you acting this way? What are you looking..?”

She followed the path of his gaze and felt her entire body tensed. “Is that…

“What is that?” Lev breathed out, slowly shaking his head.

In a little treasure box laid the one thing that was supposed to be missing.

“The blood pearl.” Ophelia gasped in shock.

“Blood pearl?! I’ve never seen anything like it before, Ophelia, but I know it’s bad news because it reeks like bad news.” Lev screamed frantically.

Ophelia continued to look at the pearl, gently nodding. “It is.” How could something so lovely be so dangerous? “Did you just notice it?”

“When I woke up this morning.” Lev spoke carefully, giving Ophelia his whole attention as he observed that she was showing a lot of interest in the pearl. “What are your intended uses for it? We should leave! Ophelia!”

“Let’s obliterate it.” Ophelia muttered when a strange energy suddenly flooded the room, she reached out to grab it but instead grabbed Lev and pulled him to stand behind her. Her dagger, which was entirely engulfed in the golden light, quickly transformed from the flame above her palm.

Ophelia fixed her gaze on the door. The room was pitch-black and taut

with tension.

“Step up into the light.” She grunted as she spoke, her eyes taking on their golden reptile-like form.

A recognizable voice calmly stated, “I wouldn’t touch the blood pearl if I were you, Ophelia Viadislav,” and a soft footstep was then heard. “You are a wise young lady therefore, I anticipate you to act wisely.”

Ophelia’s pupils flitted. “Alina?” Her voice was full of skepticism.

The Luna responded to Ophelia’s question with a gentle grin and a nod of the head. “I’m not impressed, but you have made this family seem even more interesting, child. Everything is being ruined by you.”

Sensing an impending assault, Ophelia’s eyes grew more alert. Just as her hold on Lev’s arm became more firm, a red mist filled the space, obstructing all of her perceptions.

Despite holding onto Lev tightly, she was unable to see, hear, speak, or move. However, she continued to feel his presence next to her. Whatever she was experiencing at the time, Lev was experiencing the same thing.

Why on earth was this happening? The powers of oracles were well recognized, but they were not those of the red moon witches. It was clear what the crimson mist indicated. There was a second person in the space.

Ophelia, however, was unable to complete the riddle. If Lev had noticed a weird pearl necklace on his cupboard when he first woke up and thought something wasn’t right, it meant that either Alina, whom she had never anticipated to be with her just now, or the unidentified red moon witch had planted it.

She attempted to move her body once again, but it was unsuccessful. She then attempted to control her dagger, but it instead vanished along with its flame, leaving her senseless in the pitch-black crimson mist.

Ophelia clenched her teeth and focused intently. She needed to figure out a way to escape this situation. There was no way Alina would sneak into her brother’s room and plant the blood pearl there knowing that he would entice her with his fear and curiosity.

Ophelia felt her fingers twitch. Impossible.

She breathed deeply as she wriggled her fingers, sending forth hazardous flashes that matched the blaze in her gaze.
