The Lycan's Forbidden Mate novel Chapter 116

116 Second mate, second path

116 Second mate, second path

After the ceremony, everyone was chatting with one another, making the place much livelier than Nikolai had intended.

He was standing at the food table, a glass of red wine in his hand, and he was staring at the witch who was chatting to the people around her, grinning.

She seemed to know them, therefore she was definitely not one of the witches who had visited the inn. Interesting.

“Oh, who are you focusing your attention on so intently?” Vladmir enquired with interest, looking in the same direction as Nikolai. He grinned in admiration when he caught a glimpse of the witch. “She is stunning.”

Nikolai twitched his lips. “Don’t act like you don’t know, Vlad,” he said before taking a sip of his wine.

The threatening tone Nikolai employed when calling his name caused Vladmir to stifle a terrified laugh. “My baby cousin, I didn’t mean to tell her

so…”

“If you utter one more word, I am going to strangle you.” Nikolai intervened sharply but calmly.

Vladmir made a rigid nod.

“You were aware that I had died? Do you want to pretend to be naive or did you not know of Tiana’s actions?” Nikolai sternly questioned with his attention remained fixed on the witch.

Vladmir appeared anxious. “I don’t think we should discuss this here.”

“What is your knowledge of this alleged second mate?” Nikolai inquired casually.

“Your second path that will bring you to dominion. You and that dragoness are in the gods and goddess’ eyes in a way that disturbs me.” Vladmir answered right away, taking a cookie from a bowl behind him.

Nikolai grinned as though Vladmir had cracked a joke. “You have no knowledge of Tiana’s deeds, do you?”

“The voices have never revealed anything to me regarding her.” Vladmir answered with a heavy sigh.

Nikolai snapped his tongue, seized the cookie from Vladmir, “You’ll be my advisor,” and made his way to the gleaming witch.

Vladmir shrugged as he observed his cousin. “Has he grown more powerful?”

“What exactly do you mean by his second path?” Sasha questioned as she rushed over to him, her eyes wide with intrigue.

Vladmir sneezed and took a second cookie, this time hastily biting into it. “He is the child of doom, but he refuses to accept it.”

Sasha’s eyes were wide as she regarded him. “Are you kidding now?”

“Do not act so ignorant, sister.” Vladmir tapped her shoulder and grinned. “You should give it your all and, after all this, face your mate.” He continued as he departed in jest.

Sasha groaned heavily. She didn’t want to face Lev because she was too ashamed. She shook her head and turned to look at Nikolai, who was now talking to his mother. “Child of doom? He can’t be… Is he? Why would… No.”

She had overheard Alexander’s and Nikolai’s conversation earlier but the

goddess knew that she didn’t want to believe Nikolai was the child of doom. Yes, he had always been violent and bloodthirsty, but who wasn’t?

“I have to figure out what the hell is going on.” She murmured to herself before leaving the grand hall.

Nikolai, who was still sipping his wine, stated calmly, “You don’t seem content tonight mother.”

Alina sighed. “You are Alpha now, you must act appropriately and get married as soon as possible.”

“I’m getting married, mother, and you’ll soon have grandchildren,” Nikolai said and gulped down the entire cup of wine.

Despite the scent that was assaulting his nose, Nikolai felt proud of himself for not acting in a way that would not be unusual for him but unusual for others.

“You will only endanger that dragoness.” Alina gave a firm warning.

“Oh?” Nikolai smiled and nodded.

Alina narrowed her eyes at him. “That dark mind of yours scares me, Nikolai.”

“You have always been terrified of it, mother, and your lack of empathy made it worse. But in all honesty, I am not that sick bastard who thinks darkly merely because his so-called family lacks genuine compassion; I am a sick bastard because I was created to be one.” Nikolai said casually. “You can call it fate. After all, you didn’t kill me when you had so many chances all those years ago.”

Alina’s eyes widened and she slowly took a step away from Nikolai who stared at her wildly creepily.

“Mother,” he called with a low thick whisper and took a step towards her, closing the space between them and bending his face close to hers.

“Alina Novikov, the dark bond I share with my wife is not a curse. You understand, don’t you? A child born bound to a dragon of dominance. Everything came together tonight. She is indeed a forbidden fruit but

fortunately, she’s mine.”

“You know?” Alina exhaled in surprise.

Nikolai rolled his eyes, “Oh came on. Stop acting as ignorant as you always do.”

Alina forced a tight swallow. “When…”

“You’re aware that I passed away, right?” Nikolai cut in, raising an incredibly

anxious brow.

Alina forced a tight swallow. “You are going to endanger Celestia.”

“Isn’t Celestia already in danger?” Nikolai laughed sinisterly. “If I’m in danger facing the wrath of the gods and goddesses, facing those who want to use me as their puppet that will give them an easy road to victory, facing those who will want to take my wife away from me…. If you think about it deeply, either one of those ways, it all comes together to destruction doesn’t it?”

Alina let out a gasp. “Nik, would you like me to express my apologies or something? I…”

“Oh don’t act so ridiculous mother, it makes me feel so sad.” Nikolai chuckled, shoved the glass into her hands then walked over to the witch who paused her laughter and stared at him with wide eyes.

“Who are you?” Nikolai questioned, narrowing his gaze at her.”

“Alpha.” She called him with deference and bent her head.

Nikolai sighed deeply, grabbed her arm and vanished from sight with her to a quiet hall then pushed her to the wall, grasping her neck tightly.

Anger flashed in his eyes. “Who the hell are you?”

“I… I… The witch choked under his firm hold, which he was tightening to the point where she would be unable to breathe. Her lavender eyes welled

up with tears.

“Why does your scent draw me to you so strongly?” Nikolai asked with a deep growl of displeasure.

The witch attempted to speak, but her voice was weakening as a result of the air’s short flow. Suddenly, her body went slack, her breathing became labored, and she immediately closed her eyes.

“Oh?” Nikolai withdrew his hand, watching her fall to the ground.

“Was my grasp that tight?” He questioned with slightly raised eyebrows.

Rhaziel yelled, “Nikolai,” as he dashed toward Nikolai, staring at the witch who was lying asleep across the corridor with wide eyes. “Who…”

“Second mate?” Nikolai asked almost innocently.

“Second mate?!” Rhaziel was startled.
