The Lunar Queen
Chapter 239
There were days I honestly thought Kairo no longer existed anymore.
“How did it happen?” she asks.
I go quiet for a moment as all the memories from that night flash in my mind.
Pain. Blood. Betrayal.
“If you don’t want to tell me you can show me” she says holding out her hands.
She looks into my eyes.
“You can trust me” she says smiling.
And gods I do. Far more than I should after only knowing her for a day.
I grab her face and kiss her softly and she grabs my hair in her hands and kisses me back deeper and I groan into her mouth.
The kiss feels less like starting something and more like finally giving into something that’s been pulling at me since she walked
into that room.
She pulls back trying to catch her breath.
“You saved us, we trust you with our life” I say lightly brushing her cheek.
“Thank you for saving me” I say low.
“You’re welcome” she says.
“Thank you for giving me a family and hope and love” I say.
The words feel too small for what they actually mean to me.
“You deserve to be loved Kairo, and Fate and Selene both knew” she says.
I hold out my hands and she takes them in hers.
“Just think back to when things went wrong” she says.
The moment I think about that day we’re both transported to that day and I stiffen.
Even after all these years the memory still feels sharp enough to cut me open.

Chapter 239
“Hey, I’m here with you, nobody can see or hear us” she says taking my hand.
“Your pack was beautiful” she says as we walk through the pack towards the house.
It was. Before that night it felt alive.
I see my past self walking across the lawn with her.
Alexandra, my second chance mate.
Hades growls in my head at seeing her.
The sound is pure hatred.
We follow behind them into the house.
“I can’t wait for you to officially become my Queen Alex” I say to her.
“I can’t wait either Kai” she says leaning her head on my shoulder.
“Kairo the family is already waiting in the dining room” my father says walking over to us in the foyer.
“We’re on our way up now father” I say.
I see my dad look at Alex funny and I never noticed it that day.
Like some part of him already knew something was wrong.
“You look happy” Lyric says softly.
“I was, but it was one sided” I say as Hades paces in my mind.
We focus back on the memory and just as we do all hell breaks loose.
Alex stands from the table and stabs my father in the chest.
My mother screams and shifts into her Lycan but a blast at the door distracts everyone.
Jude walks through the door smiling.
That same fucking smile.
He walks straight to Alex and kisses her.
“Good job baby” he says smiling.

Chapter 239
CLEA
My brothers shift to attack them with my mother but he snaps their necks without them moving.
I’m stuck unable to move.
Completely helpless while my entire family dies in front of me.
“Kill everyone in the room except him” Jude says pointing at me.
My eyes are glued on Alex.
“Why?” I ask her.
“He promised me more power than you could ever give me” she says.
“But you’re my mate” I say voice cracking.
“You’re weak and I deserve a strong mate” she says and Hades takes over and forces the shift and charges her and Jude just moves to the side and I grab her by her throat and roar in her face.
“Jude help” she strains out, but he just looks at her and laughs.
