“Oh I got what I wanted, now time to watch it all unfold” he says before he leaves the same way he came.

I rip her throat from her body and Hades roars out before we’re pulled back into our bodies.

Lyric gasps and her tears are falling.

“I’m so sorry, you didn’t deserve that and you are not weak, she was a power hungry bitch. What’s more powerful than the Lycaly king for a mate” she says.

Her anger isn’t pity and somehow that makes it easier to breathe.

I smile and wipe her tears.

“Thank you love” I say.

“She said Jude, that’s the King of the Southern kingdom, why did he attack you?” she asks.

I shrug my shoulders.

“I never got a chance to find out because I never shifted back after that until today” I say.

One night destroyed everything.

She cups my cheeks.

“We will never betray you and anybody who does will have to deal with me” she says,

I chuckle at her.

“I know they would” I say to her.

And strangely enough I believe her completely.

“Do you want me to heal you?” she asks.

I raise a brow.

“I thought you did that already?” I ask.

She smiles.

“I healed your connection with your Lycan and I helped you shift back but I didn’t heal you and your heart” she says putting her hand over my chest.

The moment her hand touches me I realize just how much pain I’ve been carrying all these years.

“You are my mate now and I will love you just as much as I love Cole and he will love you too, you are not alone anymore Kai” she

says tears streaming down her face.

“Please” is all I can manage to say.

I feel it as soon as she starts.

I just feel lighter.

Less tired.

Less angry.

Now all I feel is love for the growing bond that found me at my darkest time when I almost didn’t even know who I was anymore

man or beast.

Like someone reached inside my chest and finally pulled out years of grief.

She wipes the tears that I didn’t even know were falling.

“I got you Kairo, you are mine now” she says kissing me softly.

“I don’t want to leave without you” she whispers laying her head on my chest. I wrap my arms around her and hold her close.

The words hit harder than they should.

“It will only be for a little while I promise” I say to her.

“Can you mark me first?” she asks and I stiffen my hold on her tightening slightly

She wants me to mark her. That means sex and for some reason that scares me more than anything else.

Not because I don’t want her but because I do.

“You want to be marked before you leave? Are you sure?” I ask.

“Are you having doubts about us? Do you not want to mark me?” she asks panic lacing her voice.

“Hey, hey calm down of course I do, I just didn’t want to rush anything with you or him” I say gently to her.

The last thing I ever want is for either of them to feel pressured by me.

“I want you to mark me before I go home without you, I want to be completely yours when I leave” she says looking me in my eyes.
