Not random. Not imagination. Real. I can feel it settle into place.

“Can I show you something?” I ask.

She nods slowly and I hold my hands out for her

She hesitates for a second before putting her hands in mine. That hesitation matters. That’s trust forming, not given.

I show her the vision but keep the face out.

She pulls her hands from my grasp and steps back.

“what was that?” she asks.

I smile “Your future if you help me” I say

“who was that?” she asks

“Your second chance mate” I say

“So you will only give me that future if I help you?” she asks brows furrowed

“No fate will give you that future if you help me, I don’t control what I see. If it’s bad it’s either meant to be stopped or meant as a

warning, if it’s good well anything can change fate” I say

“Are you a witch?” she asks.

Seraphina and I both laugh.

“Actually I am but I’m also I guess technically a goddess” I say.

“Holy shit the Queen is a literal goddess and a witch, OMG I’m so sorry” she screams as the tears fall harder.

“I didn’t know it was you aunt Mary told me about you, she loves you” she cries.

I grab her face and lock eyes with her.

“Ivana breathe and calm down” I say letting the command softly wash over her.

Careful. Controlled. Enough to steady her, not break her.

“I do not blame you for anything that happened that night, you didn’t have a choice, you are a victim too and so is the other she-

wolf who was there” I say wiping her tears.

“You longer a victim and today we are taking hark your control” I say to her

I smile “Are you ready?” I ask

I shrug “I’ve been through worse and 1 believe in my mate and myself to get us out of here and you should see me when I’m n

being held captive I’m so much more fun” I say trying to make her feel better.

Half yake Half truth. All deflection.

“You have been through worse, but still you don’t look broken, he thought you would be broken I overheard him talking to Beta

Jonathan one day” she says.

I laugh a real laugh my first one in weeks. It surprises even me, sharp, loud, alive,

“Break me?, if 1 wasn’t able to get myself out of here my mate would have found me, that I know. Also a good thing is I wouldn’t

have been me anyway, if Jonathan didn’t do what he did I wouldn’t have my memory” I say.

David thought killing my parents would break me, he thought being kidnapped and pretending with him broke me but it didn’t it just made me more determined to rip his heart from his chest and feed it to him right before his brain realizes he’s dead” I say voice dropping low thinking of different ways to kill him.

And I mean it. Every word.

I wonder if Selene would let me bring him back to kill him again in a loop. Selene said my powers were unlimited

“What do you think Nova?” I ask her.

She huffs “We can try” she says flat,

“I will help you” she says quickly and clap my hands

“That is perfect, time to plan” I say.

“Seraphina what do you have for me?” I ask

“Jonathan met with Cole last night also and they discussed some things. He is attacking the bear King tonight and David is

attacking Homing Moon tonight also she says.

Everything lines up. Finally. Not fuck, timing

“Attacking the bear King while David is distracted is perfect, what else?” I ask

“He has a witch to break my mother’s spell but he still plans to kill my mother he said” she adds.

“Okay so do you need me to help with the spell for the tunnel?” I ask.

She shakes her head “No but I do need help figuring out what to do with the rogues because he is going to burn this place to the

ground” she says.

1 look at Joshua and Henry

“Any ideas on that?” I ask.

“There’s a cabin a few miles out where we can take them but I don’t know how without making it obvious” Josh says.

“I can help with that” I say.

“I know a spell that can make it look like people are here but not really. You need to start moving them tonight, any small children

and elderly first while David is gone” I say.

I know when I reread this book it won’t feel like it is moving so slowly, but with the daily updates I am getting so impatient for Lyric to get home!
