Lyric POV

I wake up with tears in my eyes. They’re already there, no build, no warning, just there like my body didn’t ask permission.

“Do you need help to the bathroom?” she asks and I give her a deadpan look.

I don’t even answer right away, just stare, because at this point my body is mine but not really and I hate that more than anything.

“I’m sorry, I know carrying triplets is more stressful on the body than one or two pups” she says.

“I’m fine, I just need a minute” I say slowly walking to the bathroom.

I brush my teeth and wash my face and stare in the mirror. Too long. Longer than I should. Like I’m trying to recognize the girl

staring back.

Although tamed my hair looks dull and lifeless, my caramel skin looks pale and dry, an entirely different picture than the girl who

was staring back at me three weeks ago. Not broken, but not untouched either. And I hate that he got even this much.

I step out of the bathroom and Lydia is waiting in the room.

“Ready?” she ask

“Yeah I’m ready” I say as we walk out into the waiting area. My steps are slow, not weak, controlled. Everything I do now is

controlled.

Seraphina walks over and hugs me.

I notice Ivana standing off to the side with Agnes.

I smile at both of them “Hello Agnes how are you today?” I ask her.

She smiles warmly at me “I am well Luna although I should be asking you that” she says.

I chuckle softly “I’ve always been one to put other people before me, probably why Selone saw fit to make me Queen” I say. And

maybe that’s the only reason I’m still standing.

Ivana gasps and covers her mouth.

“Wait, you are Lyric?” she asks.

I nod and smile resting my hands on my belly “Yes that is me” I say.

“I’m so sorry” she says dropping to her knees as tears pour down her face.

The way she drops, fast and instinctive, tells me everything I need to know about how she’s been living.

“He forces me to do everything, I’m Alpha commanded to never tell him no” she cries and I cry with her.

“I don’t blame you Ivana, you are a victim just as much as I am” I say.

The words feel wrong, but I need her to hear them. Need her to stand up.

“You are the Queen though” she says quietly.

“I am, but I am a teenage girl before that, I know what it feels like to have a mate you want but you know is bad for you” I say.

“He killed my father and he raped me” she cries out.

My stomach twists hard, rage rising fast, sharp, immediate, but I force it down. Not now. Not yet.

I pull her into my arms and I try to push calming feelings into her.

“I can’t erase what he did to you, but I can help you get away from him and get your well deserved revenge” I say smirking.

The smirk comes easy. Too easy. That should probably worry me.

She picks her head up to look at me.

“Revenge?” she questions.

“Yes, is that not something you want?” I ask.

“I want him to suffer the same way my daddy did, the same way I do” she says voice rough from crying.

“I can help you with that, but I need your help also” I say locking eyes with her.

No softness now. No comfort. Just truth.

Nova shows me a vision of her with Logan at the palace and I smile.

I know when I reread this book it won’t feel like it is moving so slowly, but with the daily updates I am getting so impatient for Lyric to get home!
