The Lunar Queen
Chapter 116
Lyric POV
$
Today marks 3 days before David’s deadline. I’ve been working on my magic but Cole has been obsessing over the pups and finding
the second half of the prophecy.
James and I have grown very close and he is now my personal guard next to Caleb.
My belly now has a small bump and the doctor said the triplets are growing fine and I will probably give birth in 3 or 4 months instead of 5 like most alpha pregnancies.
So that has all of us on edge. Not just uneasy-tight, stretched thin, like everything is moving faster than we can keep up with.
We have been so busy trying to plan my coronation and have me learn magic that I haven’t even had time to think about the prophecy or David and his threats.
But now everyday Cole wakes up just a little bit more tense then the day before. I feel it through the bond the moment his eyes open-sharp, restless, like he’s already bracing for something that hasn’t happened yet.
Im standing in our closet trying to decide what to wear when I feel sparks across my belly.
“good morning princess, I’m sorry I wasn’t here when you woke up” he says kissing my cheek softly.
“it’s okay my love I know you have been busy preparing for where David might strike next” I say.
“let’s not talk about that, how are you feeling princess?” he asks
“I’m okay just a bit overwhelmed with everything going on, it makes it hard to really enjoy my pregnancy” I say my fingers unconsciously brushing over my stomach, trying to ground myself.
“I know, we need to have a meeting to discuss some things, we only have three days until the rendezvous day” he says
“I know and I’m worried about that because who is he going to attack next” I say.
“how do we protect them?” I ask.
“all the smaller packs have escape routes in case something happens” he says.
“let’s go have breakfast, are you ready for the coronation tomorrow?” he asks
“as ready as I can be” I say
“it’s becoming real” I say a slight tightness settling in my chest as the weight of it presses down.

“you have already been acting like a Queen baby” he says.
I put on a canary yellow gown and heels to match and we head to breakfast.
Nova becomes restless as we get closer tk the dining room.
“what’s wrong Nova” I say
“something is going to happen” she says.
“what?” I ask
“I don’t know” she says
A cold feeling slips down my spine, subtle but enough to make my steps slow just slightly.
When we walk in the dining room the hairs on the back of my neck stand up.
“just stay alert” she says.
When I sit down Elise runs over to me
“Lyric I missed you” she says
“I missed you too bug” I say
“can we have a sleepover again?” she asks
“no” Cole says quickly
His tone is too sharp. Too fast. I feel the tension spike through the bond instantly.
I glare at him
“of course you can bug” I say smiling at her
When the servants bring out the plates a servant places a cup of tea in front of me.
It smells divine -sweet, warm, comforting in a way that immediately lowers my guard.
And I drink the entire cup.
Cole looks over at me and smiles
“it was good?” he asks

but before I can respond his eyes go wide with worry, fear, confusion.
The shift is instant. Violent. The bond siams with it.
My hands and eyes begin to glow.
My body feels like it’s on fire and then my stomach begins to burn.
“Ahhhh” I scream out dropping to the floor.
The pain hits fast and deep, ripping through me like something is forcing its way outward.
“Lyric, what’s wrong?” Cole asks
“something is happening with the pups” I say
We both look down as my belly begins to grow in size.
Not slow. Not natural. Too fast. Wrong.
“the tea was spelled, someone accelerated our pregnancy” Nova says.
“the tea Cole” I say and he growls loud
The sound tears through the room, violent, furious, protective.
“find that servant who gave her the tea” Cole snarls out and the guards run into the kitchen.
After a few minutes my stomach stops growing.
The silence that follows is worse than the pain-thick, heavy, waiting.
I put my hands on my stomach and close my eyes and feel for my pups.
They feel fine and nothing seems off.
But my heart is still racing, panic sitting just under my skin, refusing to settle.
