"Mom! Stop fussing over her!!"

Nathan screamed hysterically, pointing a cruel, disgusted finger at Nora, who stood silently in the corner.

"The Hayes family doesn't even want her anymore! She's lost her position as Mrs. Hayes. She comes to the hospital looking like absolute trash—what else could she possibly want except to leech more money off us to throw at Gideon?!"

"Look at this family! Do we have a single cent left to give her to beg for that man's attention?! Dad is in there, and they've even stopped his medication!"

Nathan whipped his head around, glaring at Nora's blood-streaked face.
