The Love I Begged For Was Never Real novel Chapter 403

Nora's heart lurched violently as she spun around in terror.

Nathan stood there in a wrinkled button-down shirt, clutching a cheap plastic bag of medication from the downstairs pharmacy. His normally bright, handsome face was currently masked in a heavy layer of gloom and exhaustion.

The eyes staring back at Nora were brimming with raw, unfiltered hatred.

Taking long strides, he closed the distance between them in seconds. He reached out and forcefully shoved her away from the doorframe.

"You jinx! You ruined this family, and you still have the audacity to show your face at the hospital?!"

Nora looked at her younger brother, her chapped lips parting as she forced out a single word: "Nathan..."

She knew exactly why the Xavier family was in ruins. In the eyes of society—and in Nathan's eyes—it was entirely because of the text message she had sent.

She didn't want to fight with her only brother right now, not here, not in front of the intensive care unit where their father lay.

Lowering her head in panic, she turned toward the elevators, desperate to just leave.

"Stop right there! Where do you think you're going?!"

Nathan stepped forward, aggressively blocking her path.

"Nora, do you have a conscience at all?!"

His eyes were bloodshot, his voice hoarse and trembling from extreme emotional suppression.

"It was bad enough that you threw yourself at Gideon and acted like a pathetic lapdog for the Hayes family. But you were actually vicious enough to push Giselle off that roof! You offended Gideon, and you brought the wrath of both the Hayes and Pierce empires down on us!"
