Chapter 183
Jessica stretched lazily before turning toward Marcus with a satisfied smile. She rested her chin on her hand and studied his tense expression.
“We had sex,” she said softly. “You don’t remember?”
Her words only made Marcus angrier. His jaw tightened, and his fists clenched at his sides.
“You drugged me and had sex with me,” he said through gritted teeth. “Don’t pretend you don’t know what you did.”
Jessica let out a quiet sigh before shaking her head.
“You were active the whole time, Marcus. Why would I drug you?” she asked calmly, as though the
answer was obvious.
Marcus stared at her in disbelief. He knew exactly what had happened. Jessica was acting as though
none of it had happened.
“Seriously Jessica!”. Marcus snapped.
Jessica only smiled. “I enjoyed it,” she admitted without the slightest hint of shame. “And you did too. So why are we making such a big deal out of it?”
Marcus looked at her as though she had become a complete stranger.
“What you did is a crime,” he said coldly. “Do you understand that? If I report this to the police, you could end up in jail.”
Jessica’s confident smile never disappeared. “You won’t report me,” she replied and folded her arms. across her chest. “Besides, who would believe you? Everyone knows we used to be together. They’ll only see that we slept together. They’ll say you regretted it afterward.”
Marcus remained silent.
Jessica slowly climbed out of bed and walked toward him.
“This doesn’t have to be something bad,” she said gently. “Think of it as a fresh start. Let’s get back together.”
Marcus didn’t respond.
“I mean it,” she continued. “I’ll do whatever you want. I won’t leave you standing alone at the marriage. registration office again. I won’t repeat my mistakes. Just give me another chance.”
Marcus stared at her for several long seconds.
There wasn’t a trace of guilt in her eyes. Only confidence, that sooner or later, he would forgive her.
Finally, Marcus grabbed his clothes and began putting them on without another word.
Jessica watched him quietly, still smiling.
After buttoning his shirt, Marcus picked up his jacket and turned to face her one last time.
“You’re crazy, Jessica.”
Marcus nodded slowly..
Natalie shook her head hard. “She is crazy. How could she do that to you? Let me report her this instant and have her locked up. What she actually did was rape. You could have even been hurt. You were in a weak state. Anything could have happened.”
Marcus felt the same way deep down. His fists tightened again as he remembered Jessica’s smile and her calm voice. But he didn’t want to make a huge deal out of it. “I know, Natalie. It makes me sick too. But I don’t want police and questions right now. It will bring too much trouble.”
Natalie’s eyes flashed with fire. “What about teaching her some private lesson then? I can have her come and seize up. We destroy her completely. Make sure she never tries this shit again.”
Marcus looked at her for a long moment. He put his hands on her waist and pulled her closer. “You don’t have to worry. I will deal with her myself.”
Natalie held his face again, her voice serious. “You shouldn’t go soft with her, Marcus. For her to do this, she might have some sinister move planned. She is not stupid. Be careful.”
Marcus nodded. He trusted Natalie’s words. She always saw things clearly. Then he remembered something important. “Why didn’t the bracelet work at that moment? It should have knocked the drug out or something. Why did it fail?”
Natalie went quiet. She thought for a bit, her fingers playing with his shirt. “Maybe because the drug is for enhancement. Something to awaken you up sexually. The bracelet didn’t know what to fight against. It probably saw it as normal excitement, not danger.”
Marcus let out a long sigh. It made sense. The bracelet was strong, but it had limits. “So that’s why.”
Natalie smiled a little and kissed his forehead. “That’s why you have to upgrade fast. So you can fill all the beads. Then something like this won’t have any effect on you. You will be too strong for their dirty tricks.”
He saw sense in it. The system power was his biggest weapon now. He couldn’t stay weak. “Okay,”
Marcus said. “I will focus on that.”
