Surrogate for the Alpha Prince in a Coma novel Chapter 84

Chapter 84

Grayson’s POV

What the hell had I been thinking? Taking Lillian into the shower with me. Stripping her naked. Touching her body.

I hadn’t been thinking. At least not with my brain.

The woman was just so damn that whenever I was presented with the prospect of touching her, of stripping her naked, I couldn’t resist. And that sound.

I knew she was a virgin, and I didn’t want to frighten her. But if we had been proper lovers, and she’d made a noise like that under my hands, I would have pushed her up against the shower wall and fucked her until she screamed my name.

But that – that right there – was part of my problem. She was not someone I should be feeling attraction to, at least not on this nearly overwhelming level. I wasn’t some teenager on the brink of my first rut. I was an Alpha, and this woman meant nothing to me.

I’d been around hot women before, but I’d never been this… reckless. This… horny. I had resisted honey pots before, buxom women who openly wanted to seduce me. They’d bared their breasts, whispered their honeyed words, and I’d felt nothing.

Sometimes it felt like all Lillian had to do was walk near me and I wanted to claim her. That blush. Those doe eyes. That body. Weighty breasts, full hips. And those noises, her little gasps, her startled moans.

The taste of her on my tongue.

She was driving me to madness and she wasn’t even trying.

Infuriating.

I felt a bit saner with the bathroom door closed between us, but still, I dried and changed with haste. Grabbing my cane for show, I was out the door before that bathroom door could open again, and temptation on long, sexy legs could walk out.

I summoned Prime Beta to my office and met him there. I hadn’t been here since before my attack, but Beta had, going through records and keeping things organized. The maids had also come through on a regular basis, removing any dust that had gathered. Because of this, the room looked exactly how I remembered it, like I hadn’t abandoned this room for several months.

“Alpha,” Beta said, standing at the outside of the desk. I walked around behind it but didn’t sit down in my office chair. I had too much pent-up energy to sit. That blue ball frustration was now becoming simply frustration.

“Have you discovered anything yet?” I asked Beta. This was unfair. The attack had only just occurred, and the duration of the shower I shared with Lillian wouldn’t have given enough time to uncover the culprit.

Beta frowned, and I knew I had asked too much. Yet, even so, I couldn’t stop myself from asking for more.

I was so amped up, so irritated with the entire universe, that I felt as if I needed to do something. If I sat still any longer, I would explode.

It wasn’t just restrained lust making me annoyed, either. Someone had organized a hit against my mate. Someone needed to pay for that, and I didn’t like not already having the answers.

“I think I should take over the investigation,” I said.

Beta’s jaw locked a moment, his entire body tensing. A long moment passed. He wasn’t going to argue with me, was he? I considered him, narrowing my gaze, trying to understand his game here.

“That won’t be necessary,” Beta said finally.

“Why?” I asked promptly, wanting answers.

He closed his eyes. “I already know who is responsible.”

Lillian’s POV

When I emerged from the bathroom, wrapped in my towel, Grayson was already gone. I changed quickly, worried he might return while I was undressed — which seemed a silly thing to worry about when he had just seen me naked, just touched my body. Silly or no, I still hurried.

But Grayson did not return with any kind of speed. The day stretched on.
