Unfazed by the drama, Tessa leaned in closer, pressing her head against Summer's as she dished the dirt. "Stuff like this happens all the time. Sometimes they just list the kid under the parents' names. You end up with an oldest and a 'youngest' sibling with a twenty-year age gap. Now that is wildly messed up."
Summer gave Tessa a thumbs-up, secretly hoping the theory was dead-on.
Imagine the look on Xavier's face when he found out his precious, untouchable first love had slapped not one, but two massive cheating scandals right onto his head.
Summer suddenly felt a profound sense of cosmic justice. She wasn't going down alone; if there was going to be infidelity, they could all burn in it together. That would be spectacular.
After breakfast, Summer urged Tessa to go home and get some sleep.
Once Tessa left, Summer called Gavin Loomis. They had originally planned for her to visit his company today.
But given the current chaos, that was obviously off the table.
"Gavin, my son is sick, so I'm stuck at the hospital taking care of him. I'm afraid my visit to the office will have to wait a few days."
Gavin asked for a few details about the situation before hanging up.
To Summer's shock, Gavin actually showed up at the hospital a short while later.
"Gavin, what are you doing here?" Summer asked in surprise.
"Just came to check on my favorite kid," Gavin replied, dumping a pile of brand-new toys onto the bed. "Let's see if Leo likes these."
Leo beamed and nodded. "I love them! Thank you, Gavin."
While Leo happily busied himself with the toys, Gavin pulled a thick file from his bag and handed it to Summer.
It was the most critical project his company was currently handling. He was personally spearheading it, and there was absolutely zero margin for error.
He knew exactly what Summer was capable of. If she joined the team, the project would be bulletproof.
Gavin pointed an accusatory finger at her. "Don't think this is a vacation. Read through it when you have time. If you don't give me at least ten constructive pieces of feedback, you'll have hell to pay."
Summer smiled and nodded. "Deal."
Leo looked up at Gavin while expertly solving a Rubik's Cube with his eyes practically closed. "Gavin, my mom is hurt. She needs to rest. She can't work right now."
