Substitute Wife, Genius CEO novel Chapter 37

Related?

Summer hadn't even considered the possibility. Subconsciously, she probably just repulsed the idea of sharing DNA with a homewrecker.

Just the thought of it made her nauseous.

But hearing Tessa say it out loud...

It actually didn't seem impossible.

Summer had been orphaned at a young age and grew up in the foster system until her current parents adopted her.

Her adoptive parents were wonderful and loved her like their own flesh and blood.

But the rest of her adoptive extended family despised her.

When she was little, her cousins would bully her in secret. They called her a worthless burden, a little stray, a piece of trash that someone had thrown away.

Deep down, she had always harbored a desperate need to find her real parents.

She wanted to look them in the eye and ask why they didn't want her. Why did they throw her away?

If they didn't love her, why bother bringing her into the world at all?

Had they ever looked for her in all these years? Did they ever wake up in the middle of the night drowning in regret?

There was a time when she fantasized endlessly about becoming wildly successful, tracking them down, and watching them fall to their knees in tears, begging for her forgiveness.

It had been an obsession that haunted her entire childhood.

But as she grew older, she realized how childish those fantasies were, and the obsession had slowly faded away.

Summer touched her own cheek and asked, "Do we really look that alike?"

Tessa nodded. "You really do. But your features are way prettier. You've got this vibrant, high-class elegance to you."

That Lily is just a shameless, cheap harlot. There's no comparison!

This time, Tessa kept her mouth firmly shut, biting back the insult to protect the little boy's innocent ears.

"Mom, I have a question." Leo raised his little hand politely, like he was back in kindergarten.
